Thanks also for the transcript, which is an extremely personal account of someone complaining about matters that are totally unrelated to anything involving food and its service. Its author might feel that he's relieved himself of a burden that was troubling him by sharing it with others. It wouldn't be a course of action that I'd choose, but each to their own, again. From what I have seen, it is something that he might be sharing only with his friends. There are no circumstances that I can think of which would induce me to repeat what has been written.

I try only to judge as I find, and on nothing except personal experience. What I read doesn't impact on eating good food in pleasant surroundings and I'm happy to say that nothing has been written that affects whether or not I'll remain a customer. At any restaurant, or bar, if the food and its value for money is good, and the service is acceptable, it will keep going there.

I am given to understand that the "someone" is a manager of the restaurant.
 
Apsara have introduced a "Discovery" menu today according to their FB page. At 500 baht for 3 courses, it sounds tempting...

I used to love pork rillettes. Not had it for years now. I did try to make some myself but it was a mild disaster.
 
Made correctly, they're excellent, but the Casino version from Big C (when and if available!) are NOT made that way.

Our latest order of wine has arrived including a Mezzacorona Pinot Nero from Italy, Listrac Médoc maison Castel from France, and a tanic Vina Maipo from Chile, come by and enjoy it with a nice dry aged steak!

Good foods, good wines, nice new venue with air con and parking, good people, hell, hydroponic salad ingredients, imported meats and cheeses and such. I'll be there soon. And hell, I just paid 1100 baht at Hakuzou the other night for a bottle of decent Italian red. I'd like to try the Chilean Vina Maipo myself. I am partial to Chilean wines. :)

Went last night. Had a great time. Good food, good wine, great company. Very nicely done up with good air con and decorations and ambiance. Lovely staff. Pat and Francois had no idea we were going to drop in. They showed up when told by the staff we were there. We were there until closing having a wonderful time. He has some delicious oysters. Everything I ate was delicious. Love the Chilean wines, but he had some decent French and Italian wines as well. My wife and I will definitely be going back. Waiting for son Cyril to return from picking up his girlfriend (with supplies from France) from the airport in Bangkok. I am told he is the expert steak griller. :)

I need to get the serving time for this Apsara Xmas dinner. It is on a Wednesday and we/Starbeam Restaurant are not open on Wednesdays. May see if the family will go with me - wife, daughter, sis-in-law. The stuffed pork loin sounds nice to me. Wife and daughter can have either/or. New Year's Eve being a Tuesday night that may be a possibility as well for us, wife and I, to attend. Waiting for the menu, price and alcohol to see if I would like that. Also need to see where would be good for drinks after for the toasting in the New Year. Live music maybe?

Pat owner of The Beach was telling me they want to start getting live music into Apsara and The Beach. I'll speak to Dome at Hippy House and see if he has/knows of some musicians looking for weekly gigs at either or both places.

OK, Xmas dinner is on the 23rd and 24th, not Xmas day. Menu for lunch or dinner those days.

Enjoyed a beautiful Xmas Eve dinner by Chef Cyril.
Superb salmon and liver appetizers and a delicious main course of sea bass served over linguini with freshly made white sauce.
The tasty apple "tarte tartin" was taken home to be enjoyed with coffee today...although daughter #2 killed the vanilla ice cream "ala mode" last night.

Hello everyone,

on behalf of everyone at Apsara, we hope you all spent a marvelous new years and hope you all have a great year 2020.

Apsara opened March 25th last year, after spending two months building and decorating the restaurant, and it has been an amazing ride ever since. Unfortunately, we have not been able to achieve the goals we set for the restaurant and after much thought we have decided that it is simply not viable to keep Apsara open for another year. We will officially be closing down the restaurant on the 17th of this month and will organize a special event for all our faithful patrons to attend before that date. We want to thank everyone of the customers who visited us over the year and hope you enjoyed the experience we created at Apsara Surin.

Furthermore, as of tomorrow friday the 3rd of January, we will only open for the dinner service from 17h30-22h00.

Once again we hope you all had a great new years and hope to see you here before the 17th,


As GL would say: “Use it or lose it!”
 
I'm not sure if it was @Cent who said it (about another establishment) - "You need to persevere for at least two years"
