I've checked the Ford Owner's Manual and that recommends 10W-30 for ambient temperatures between -15°C and +40°C. It doesn't mention engine age.

No - but I'd rather have an engine that's done 50,000 kms in 1,000 journeys than one that's done the same in 10,000 journeys.

I'll remember that for my future travel plans. However, given that there's probably another 15 years left in the engine, I'm not duly concerned.
