Made it to the crossing yesterday. Wife drove no directions were given by me and she went direct to the spot. For others that know how to use GE and a GPS
14.336176661, 103.175825385 (Border Land Crossing). Google Earth image is dated 4/20/2012. The photos that are posted on GE are dated 12/2013. What I saw I now have a better understanding. What I did not see is also of interest. I only have three photos for technical reasons but a return trip is in the works I'm told by SHMBO for next Sunday. There is a road on the Cambodian side and the village at crossing is Chob Kokir Khang Lich. On the Thai side when you enter off the main road is a very large ARMY camp it is here that you pay 20 baht to park. The officials that are officiating this are in brown uniforms, Offical Touts, under the control of the army and yes the army is present. From this point you drive 500 meters south to a parking lot on your right on your left is a fairly new Thai Market. At this point you can walk or hire a motor bike taxi, 10 baht, to take you 200 meters to the crossing. Very nice black top road to the physical crossing BUT for that 200 meters no private vehicles. At the crossing you have to deposit your passport as CO-CO pointed out. This check point is operated by the Army and their brown shirted Touts. The walk threw gate is directly to the left and is controlled again by the army. Directly across from this passport deposit area is the arrival from Cambodia inspection shack again army and their brown shirts. Directly in front of the locked gates where the photos were taken are two new 25 foot shipping containers that I was told will be immigration. They have been placed to block vehicle access crossing. When I was looking across into Cambodia I was shown to the left the new casino, by the looks of it another three years and it may open. Now I'm not saying that immigration was not at the crossing but all the Officials I saw and talked to were ARMY and brown shirted Touts . BTW they were very professional and polite. I understand why the farangs would like to see a crossing open and do agree but what I saw It won't be today or tomorrow and I would put money on it not this year but someday it could happen. Notice the sign crossing open 8am to 3 pm.
