Saw this over on Surin Expats.
There is an ongoing government project at Huay Saneng I thought some members might be interested in. A project the locals are calling “Surin Beach”… For those unaware, Huay Saneng is a large reservoir about 15km south of Surin city, and the royal irrigation department offices are located there. I’ve added a map below showing the reservoirs’ location, and the red shaded areas show the far south-western corner of Huay Saneng where the development is taking place.
They built a dirt road separating the main reservoir from the project area in the middle of last year and have been clearing the area since. The project is scheduled to finish in 2030, and I’ve attached an image that shows the color coded, planned development stages for each year…
I’ve added pictures from the official planning documents released to residents. Apologies if not easy to look at, but they are photos of photos. Basically, the plan is for a cycleway and walking track around the reservoir, with a sandy beach for a safe swimming area. IF, this project gets completed, I reckon it’ll be a welcome addition to Surin, especially for those with young kids…
The politician behind the project is the same fella who owns the 361 restaurant on 214, and he retained his seat in the recent election, so hopefully it will get finished.
