New Thai Visa process from overseas

I am preparing my trip home to Thailand. First thing is the way you obtain a visa for Thailand has changed. The printing of a form and gathering documents and sending a money order days are over. It is all done on the Thai e Visa web site. https://www.thaievisa.go.th/
You have to create an account then you have to scan all relative documents and upload them one after an other.

Now here is the thing! After navigating through to the appropriate visa visiting Thai family. It states must have proof of 400,000 Baht in a bank send 3 months of statements.
Well for a 3 month visa that seems a bit harsh. Now since the banks in Thailand got rid of online banking and only have mobile phone App how are you suppose to do that. When they even lock you out of screen capture when the App is live. So you can't get a picture? Mind you right next to requesting proof of 400K they add (,sponsor letter) F' em I will send the sponsor letter instead and see what happens. The fee now happens to be $120 AUD around 2500 Baht. One more thing they ask you to prove your address over seas. I scanned my electric bill.

When you sign off there is this document you electronically sign. Hmm what does it all mean ??????
Here it is......

I have read and understood the questions in this application and ensure that my answers and all supporting documents are true and correct. Any false or misleading information may result in the permanent visa refusal or the denial of entry into the Kingdom of Thailand. In addition, I consent that all applications are subjected to approval by the Embassy/Consulate-General, and the Embassy/Consulate-General may request for an interview or additional document(s) deemed necessary.
Submission of a visa application does not necessarily mean that a visa will be granted and the visa fees cannot be refunded in any circumstance.

I consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of my personal information, which I have provided for the processing of my visa application through the e-Visa system, by the Thai authorities or any authorized person or entity acting on behalf of the Thai authorities to the extent that such collection, use, and disclosure is for the purposes of immigration. I understand that the confidentiality of my personal information will be protected and any use or disclosure of such information will be in accordance with relevant Thai laws and regulations.

I hereby confirm that I have recognized responsibility for environmental matters and local culture when travelling in the Kingdom of Thailand, and that I shall be carried out with due regard to all appropriate and relevant legislation and regulatory considerations and associated compliance obligations regarding environment and the local culture.

Is any of that new?

For years it has been a case of online application. The non imm 'o' visa is not intended for tourists, and for anyone who considers Thailand to be 'home' should be on an extension of stay and re-entry permits. The 90 day single entry non imm 'o' is designed to allow you entry and the time to get money seasoned in a Thai bank - in anticipation of an application for a 12 month extension based on marriage or retirement. In your case, @Rice the financial requirement for the marriage based visa simply mirrors the financial requirement for an extension. All sensible, all logical.......If you (as in 'one', not specifically 'you' as in Rice) consider yourself a visitor to these shores then the tourist visas should come into play.

Oh for the good old 12 month multiple entry Non Imm 'O' visas, based on retirement, for anyone over 50 years of age.

What you say is true. Alas I have stayed longer then my original extension of stay. I was informed years ago that I was not allowed to enter Thailand visa exempt as it was the wrong use of it. I was almost turned back at immigration. I was told I was never to enter visa exempt again. What you say Ray is completely logical. But how am I to show 400K when its in my Thai bank and I only have an App that does not allow statements? I can I guess I can take a picture of my phone as screen capture does not work. But no statements.

Is any of that new?

The whole electronic entry is and the specific 400K is.

@CO-CO my main bitch is that tourist can enter for 60 days visa exempt and for 90 days I have to jump through hoops because I can't do it. "BUGGER"
Thanks for the truth bomb. BUGGER again

As some say, life is a bitch....

Have you considered a land border entry (Cambodia might not be the best advice at the moment).....then convert your newly acquired visa exempt, via a non-imm 'o' into a one year extension. You can then get paper statements from your Thai bank to evidence the 400k required for the initial visa, then the extension.

Last year I changed from the Non OA retirement to the Non O based on retirement.
The reason was to get away from the insurance. I already have insurance which was not accepted by immigration.

I have the application all loaded on the system. But have not hit send yet. Have to do my tax first.
I am so lucky to have a prescribed benefit scheme that I have to pay tax on till the end of my wife's life.
Does not end with me even.
I will up date when I find out if it is sponsors letter, 400K or even both. They want,
One other thing I forgot to mention. Multi "O" was not an option.

I did the Non O Retirement visa from the States. Simple process very little documents asked for Bank info was the most to show income per month. The only startling thing was the clock started kicking upon issuance which had me worried that it would end before I had a chance to get money in a Thai bank seasoned. but upon arrival I was given 90 days so all worked out.

was that on the new online system?
