Obtaining a Re-Entry Permit at Surin Immigration

Surin Dinosaur
Yesterday I went with my wife to Surin Immigration to apply for a single Thailand re-entry permit.
I did it very early, just in case of either having a problem, or that the rules might change, even though the proposed date is next month.
As usual, the info I had to supply was not as I had anticipated.
It was as follows:-

1) Completed TM8 application form with photo - they glued the photo to it.
2) Passport, and copies of passport main page, current visa page, last re-entry, AND all last year's visa and entry information pages
All pages to be signed
3) Copy of TM6 passenger return flight card. Signed.
4) Copy of wife's ID card, signed, plus telephone number.
5) Copy of blue house book, signed by wife.
6) 1000 Baht fee
7) "Completion form" of some sort then signed by me and payment receipt given

I'm not quite sure why all last year's visa and re-entry info was needed, but they took copies there at the office.
My Thai ID card, yellow house book, and vaccination info were not wanted.
What would have happened if my wife had not been there, presumably the rules would have had to be different?
It was the usual masses of stamping, signing, waiting, scanning, checking, re-checking, waiting and finally getting my passport with the re-entry permit.

It was no problem, just crazily bureaucratic, and all in good humour, even when I asked what that final form was for and what had I agreed to.
(I'm still not sure, but it just seems to be part of "completion" and nothing untoward.)

That's B***sh1t.
You getting a re-entry stamp is nothing to do with your wife or your house. I'm (thankfully) not married now and rent, so what would I have to do??? They make up this sh1t as they go along.
I am very happy to not have to deal with Surin Immigration anymore.

It appears as your wandering shoes are preparing a trip somewhere with the Mrs @Wanderer .

Are you returning to Blighty for the weather or are you taking a pleasant holiday elsewhere ?

If so - safe travels ahead.

Last time I visited immigration was 2 years ago for a re-entry. Only my passport needed (plus payment) Everything else was done on the computer. That was the Buriram main office. Waiting for no restriction visit to and from Cambodia and I will go to immigration again.

I absolutely understand what you say, but don't shoot the messenger.
I'm only telling people what happened so that they can take all conceivable paperwork with them just in case, even though they might not expect it to be needed.
Not everyone lives close to the Immigration office.
If you have all this stuff with you, it isn't then a problem.

Never never and never give them ANYTHING that's not required. :)

I agree. When I go to Immigration I take every document that I have in my briefcase plus copies. Although the case stays in the truck normally.

Nice senior Immigration Officer at Swampy came over to the desk and asked me "Had I remembered to get a reentry". I thanked him for the reminder and replied "I may not be coming back for a while" He said I understand its not easy traveling in these times of Covid" I still had 9 months left on my visa. I think it is going to be a while to get my wife's hearing seen too. In these times of Covid everything is taking a back seat. How many people are dyeing due to this?

Sorry, that wasn't my intention!

You will probably have to visit a GP first to get a referral. If you ask to be referred to a Specialist in the private sector. You should be able to secure an appointment fairly quickly. At least that way you and your wife are actually speaking to someone about her problem. Then you know where you stand as far as treatment goes. If you choose the Public Hospital system, you may be shocked at how long it takes to just get an appointment. Privately, you may have to pay a couple of hundred or so for the first appointment. Good luck!

Does anyone have the link for the 90 day online as, F*cked if I can find it.
