The article that we were were talking about was diffidently half ass but there was some truth in it. Photos are worth a thousand words.
The location of immigration and the new custom facility is at. GPS
14.364931, 104.065031 (Road Chong Sa Ngom Center PhuSing). SiSaket Immigration has been in this location for some time. It was closed yesterday (Sunday) but is fully functional. The new custom house area sets in back of immigration and is a very large area. This area is about 2 km north of the crossing. The photos of the casino is at the crossing.

Surprise, surprise - the casino has been open for some time. The hotel element remains under construcyion.

The 'shack' on the right is infact Thai customs and Thai immigration (arrivals) is just beyond it.

Thai immigration (departures) is located in the red-roofed building on the left in picture one. It is then a short walk to the border barrier and across the road to Cambodia visas and immigration. Visas were located under a straw roofed sala and immigration in a more salubrious bamboo hut.

To make this a full fledged crossing for ASEAN. They have to do some major work on that highway for at least 20km north. Its a piece of shyt like driving on the moon. Saw numerous 9 to 12 seater tourist vans taking the suckers to the casino, Thai&Chines. The vans drive like assholes.

The https://www.facebook.com/pages/SiSaKet-Union/515762915107838 has just made and updat on their first shyt article..

That road is 100% better than it was 2 years ago.

It does not appear on Google directions if you want to get to Siem Reap. If you Google, say, Det Udom or Si sa Ket to Siem Reap, directions take you via Chong Chom !

Google's last satellite imagining for this area was 2001 12 years old. Most of Google's info and posted photos are just as bad.

CO-CO. Have you seen large 18 wheel trucks use this crossing?

I don't recall seeing any.

I don't think they would get up the hill, and in the old days they could not have negotiated around the shanty town near immigration.

Oh yes they do and have done for years. Huge loads, shoddy trucks. Was doing that trip often a while ago, not fun if you end up behind one of those trucks.

Thanks for the info IA. Where is the operational Thai Customs House for this crossing?

Went up to SaNgam crossing yesterday. The road from LaLom to the start of the "hill climb" section is generally not bad to bloody atrocious in small patches. Some of the bad sections have been given a lick of jam but there are a number of axle breaker potholes. Take it easy. It appears they are going to install road side drains through some of the villages so they might be able to stop those sections collapsing all the time.
The hill climb is great, brand new and the rocky (dropping) cliffs have been sprayed with concrete or had netting bolted on. But there is signs the road may not last for long. A few patches with loose gravel on the top of a pending pothole.
Border posts much as they were over a year ago. The difference being the endless stream of Rot Toos carrying hordes of casino-ites. Hotel roof looks almost finished.
Confirmed that only three consecutive trips for 15 day overland on-arrival visas allowed. Sorry didnt ask about limit per year.
