If you have children of school age, I highly recommend the following 2 schools in Surin. At the kindergarten, primary and junior level - AnubarnSurin. At the secondary level - Sirindhorn School for Girls - although some boys are accepted for the specialist, fee-paying classes. There are separate entrance exams for Sirindhorn school, one for the specialist classes and another for the general classes.
Both my daughters started at AnubarnSurin, The eldest finished 2 years ago, the youngest daughter will start her final year Year 6, in May 2020. Notwithstanding the high numbers in each class, usually around 48, they have both done very well with their academic achievements. Thi9s year, my youngest daughter achieved a general score of 3.95, was placed 4th out of 48 for her class, and 59th out of 429 for her year. Well done.
My eldest daughter successfully passed the entrance exam for Sirindhorn School for Girls and has, for the past 2 years been in the top general class. There are 14 classes in each of Years 1, 2, and 3 and class size is strictly limited to 40 students per class. This year, her examination results speak for themselves. She attained straight 4's across the board, 1st in her class, and 1st in her year of 512. Excellent, and very well done.
Both schools offer specialist, fee-paying English Progamme classes. On the advice of educational specialists, plus our own feelings, we did not enroll our daughters in the English Programmes of either school. With an English father in the home, and conversational English is spoken every day, we felt their English needs were better catered for than most.
Finally, I can say that both my daughters enjoy the atmosphere of, and the schooling provided, by both of these very good state schools. I have teased them on many occasions about changing schools, of attending, for example, a private, fee-paying school On every occasion they have turned me down. They really do enjoy the schools they attend and are very happy girls too.
