Water leak found !!!.

Over the last 8 or so weeks, we have noticed a marked increase in our households water consumption.
We suspected a cracked underground tank or, a broken pipe.
By accident, Pat was in our daughters bathroom this morning and she could hear water running.
I had a look and discovered her toilet's "O " ring seal had perished, causing the cistern to try to fill at full
rate 24/7. At about 2 liters per minute, that will definately do it--problem solved.

Water systems are a necessity prone to eventual failure. I have had a filter just past the pump that provides water from an 800 liter tank to our house. A nice 1” filter with clear surround so you can see the filter. However, now two of these plastic covers have eventually blown off. Latest, left the pump pumping water full force flooding the pump house! Fortuanately I had a spare, noticed no water pressure and fixed it at 9pm before bedtime, or it would have been quite a mess by morning. So now I’m eliminating that filter. Toilets are chronic leakers. I saw toilet fill mechanisms blow the top off a toilet tank and flood bathrooms in Hawaii on second story condos. Ugh. One association made owners buy $2,000 automatic whole house shutoffs to prevent $60,000 floods. Good catch, Ferret!
