In the past, I've seen a list of requirements to apply for a retirement visa, based on marriage with the required 400 K in Thai bank on this fourm.

All old or new information and lists to obtain the visa with required photos and documents will be extremely helpful.

The other question is 400 K as an example. If you have 200 K being deposited it in your Thai bank monthly from wherever we received your retirement funds and 200 K cash in the bank does immigration except this scenario as having the necessary
financial requirements ?

Any tips on better interest rates for Thai baht cash deposit in Thai banks or institutions
 
I thought Retirement and Marriage visa had different money requirements?? As far as I know you can not mix deposit and cash in bank funds for a Visa??
For extension on a retirement visa, 1 copy of passport all pages, 1 photo, copy of house book yours and hers, bank letter showing funds in bank, I gave 12 months bank records. Hope next time to do monthly instead of total in bank.

Really would like to have the list previously published on this FOURM about requirements and photos necessary to take of marriage couple in and around you're dwelling.

Exactly the reason I asked the question.

Non O retirement temporary extension 800 K in Thai bank seasons as per immigration requirements.

Non O retirement, temporary extension based on marriage to THAI citizen, 400 K in Thai bank seasons as per immigration requirements.

Is it possible to show 12 monthly deposits of over 40 K per month to meet the financial requirements ?

It's my understanding that retirement extension is 800K in Thai bank, once you do it then you can do the monthly deposits on the next one. Never heard of the retirement extension of 400K in Thai bank?? That's a marriage extension I think? Your AI points to marriage extensions. I don't do the marriage extension because of all the extra documents they ask for plus my understanding when you apply they take your documents and have you come back in about 2 weeks to pick it up, retirement I walk out with my stamp...

Here is the exact photo requirement for "SURIN" Immigration for extension based on marriage.

1 Picture of couple in front of the house showing whole house.

2 Picture of couple standing outside house clearly showing residence sign. (Name and address of home owner on the sign)

3 Picture of couple in the bedroom. Most tasteful is clothed and sitting on the bed.

You can throw in a couple more to round it out but those three are compulsory.

The main difference besides seasoning money time and the money amount it's self is. The Surin office cannot process extensions based on marriage that is up to the regional department to handle. Ours in Surin is KhonKaen. This means you receive a 1 month temporary extension pending the full 1 year granted from KhonKaen. In that time the immigration police come and inspect your home and question witness's as to your veracity.

PS @lightfoot your great AI, (Cough) Left out that you need Kor Ror 3 (Flowery) and Kor Ror 2 (Computer extract).
AND! The Kor Ror 2 must be printed fresh on the day of application. To prove you are still married on the day of application.

I forgot something on my application day. ( insert forehead slap ) when you do your bank statement you must make a transaction on the day as well. I did that!
You know what I forgot? I did not update my bank book !!!!! DOH. I had to run offf like a mad fool to the bank.

I am on a marriage visa and have been for 4 years and, you are right, there is more doccumentry evidence required however,
it is only the first year that is a little daunting but, once you understand the requirements, a lot, 60% can be prepaired well before time.
Basically, my biggest headache was proving my monthly income until I got my financial advisor to issue me with a stat declaration
outlining my monthly pension payments and couple that with the updated bank statements from my Thai bank, it satisfies immi.
All the rest are copies from the previous years application.
I chose to change to save having to grandfather funds in a Thai bank earning SFA interest and leave my cash in my Aus pension
fund earning between 11-13.5 % pa.

You haven't got a visa....................


We will bandy the words around later but you can already see the confusion caused when someone combines the wording retirement visa based on marriage.

A Stat Dec is meaningless...... as is my P60 (annual occupational pension certificate), my DWP letter re state pension and my dividend certificaters.

Immigration want to see at least 40k/65k transferred into a Thai bank, from overseas each and every month (preferably on the same date). Evidence of this is achieved via the certified bank statements (if they show an overseas code for the receipts - for Jomtien I had to obtain a sep[erate certification from K Bank's international department confirming that the WISE payments came from overseas).

I will check the Immigration section of the forum and will produce an up to date copy of each of the requirements for Retirement and Marriage extensions.

I believe there are also pinned copies on ASEAN NOW (formerly Thai Visa.com).

Translated Immigration instructions re Visa Ext based on marriage


Non Immigrant O Extension Based on Marriage / Documents needed:
1.
Application form T.M. 7 with one photograph size 4x6 cm.
Visa Fee 1900.-Baht
2.
Copy of passport ( with certified true copy ) 2 copy
3.
Marriage Certificate 2 copy (Copy of marriage registration Papers (Kor Ror.2)
4.
(Tabian Ban)Wife's house registration 2 copy
5.
Wife's identity card 2 copy
6.
Bank guarantee letter, signed by the bank manager, pick it up in the bank 1 day before
7.
An updated Bank Book (updated on the same day as the bank guarantee paper),
Showing more than 400.000 (more than 3 month).
OR
Evidence of the male farangs monthly income of 40,000 Baht.
Embassy letter if originating outside Thailand.
Tax receipts if from within Thailand.
8.
Photos x 3: Include you and your wife in front of the house, then 2 others in/around your house. Bring photos from your wedding as well, it may also be good.
PLUS MAP OF THE HOUSE ADDRESS.( Hand draw,not google map )
9.
Copy of photo page, visa page and entry/permit to stay stamp page.
Add copy of TM6 departure card. (1 copy is enough) Just sign each copy that is what certification means.

3 to 5 Wife signs all of these and you also sign marriage certificate (it has your name on it).
(only one copy needed)

Need copies of bank book pages also signed. Best to get an update on the day you go to immigration.


Advice:


*Bring all originals you have with you just in case the officer would like to see them as well.
*The wife had to fill in 'back-up' papers in THAI

For now I post this link to Pattaya Expats Club. Also very informative but the requirements (whilst generic in many cases) relate to Jomtien Immigration.



This one for retirement extensions:-
  • o Identification page
  • o Non-Immigrant Visa
  • o Latest Extension of Stay stamp
  • o Latest entry into Thailand stamp
    • Photo Copy of TM.6 Departure Card (if you entered Thailand and were not given one, then none is required)
    • Original – Bank Passbook(s) for 2 months prior to date of application (initial extension) or preceding 12 months (renewal of extension) – Note: Do an ATM transaction and update passbook on the day of application)
  • o Original Bank Passbook showing transactions for 12 months preceding the date of application (on the day of application make a deposit to the account and update the bank passbook)
  • o Photo Copy of Bank Passbook(s) pages showing all the above transactions - the transaction on the date of application can be omitted from the photocopies (*)
  • o Original - Bank Letter - verifying the account in your name only and balance. The letter verifying the account must be dated on the date of application or the day before if your visit is to Immigration before the banks open.

Using the Combination of Baht in a Thai bank and Monthly Transfers
If you are using the permitted Combination method, you will need the documents listed for financial requirements from both checklists.
The Combination method requires you show you have sufficient funds on deposit in a Thai bank, that when added to monthly income x 12 months will be equal to or greater than 800,000 baht.

As indeed we all are mate.


I was often confused by different terminology - and the misuse of the correct terminology.

I don't give a flying fart if I am accused of being a pedant - such accusations are usually dispensed by those with the least knowledge, or worse, understanding.

@gotlost set me on the right track when, in the early days, he would put me right on Immigration matters/terminology.



It does actually make a difference to the advice being given, because there is a whole world of difference between a visa and an extension of permission to stay.


I will try to knock a simple "Idiot's Guide" - because that is certainly what I need from time to time.

We've been getting by without a house sign for 18 years now. It's a small village and everybody knows where our house number is..
Time to go shopping for a house sign to apply for the temporary retirement extension based on marriage coming up in December.
