Actually, Alan, that's a great idea if they would like that one day. Would be good. Plenty of room, good food and menu, and cold beers, nice people owners/staff, parking area, close to town actually. They even have some nice farang rock music on the stereo. I think it would be a splendid location and venue for a SF.com gathering. Ask Danny if it would be good for them, and when and what time.
Well, there were a few there Friday that are not members, or some possibly former members here. No Nick, Coco, AtB, Yorky, Coffee, Eanto, Dannyboy, GotLost, Petteri, etc there. Just myself and Nomad I believe.

4 of those mentioned above did not turn up at the last get-together at the 214 Diner!
Sometimes people are busy or away from town. Or broke at the time of the month it is held even. Especially with the current exchange rates for those on a budgeted pension.
Besides, this day I was there was for a Nookie delivery pick up. Went back later as a guy I was talking to in the morning said he would likely pop in in the afternoon as well. Well, he didn't, but plenty others did and it was a fine friendly afternoon with food and beer.

I wuz there (from noon till around 3.30 when duty called) along with several others who'd ordered from Nookie. It's like an alternative universe though, where real names are used and not SF Avatar names! Who's who? Faces change from week to week (on Fridays) and many arrive mid-afternoon for a good natter, a few drinks, and a bite to eat if hungry. The food is very good, including pad grapow (select your own grade of chilliness from none to afterburner,) sweet and sour chicken/pork, and excellent gai pad met mamuang or chicken with cashew nuts, and much more.

There was a birthday celebration at Bamboozled today. Canadian Richard was hosting a small group for his 5oth birthday, and I fell over them (not literally!) at lunchtime. Lots of laughter from the occasionally grumpy farangs, and more from the Thai ladies who took care of everything. Nice atmosphere, and a pity that more couldn't have been there to enjoy it.
Danny would be delighted to play host to an SF event there. Ideally, starting at lunchtime, he normally shuts at 10pm. He'd like a week's notice so that he can arrange a flight back to Oz for the date we choose... The flight is a fantasy, but the notice period is Kosher.
It would be nice to see this happen, preferably before hell freezes over. It just needs someone with good organisational skills (NOT orgasm skills, GL, sorry!) as it is an opportunity to boost SF membership numbers too given the right publicity. Free maps of how to find the place are available!!! Interested parties might post replies asap?

So Saturdays are good for most I'd think. Saturdays in August are: 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Pick one.
Are we not going to have a hilarious poll with a multitude of inane comments and suggestions? It will only take about 4 months (which by then will preclude August 2019).
Or just ask the Führer.
Who will probably not attend anyway.

I'll second Danny's preference for a Saturday night - or indeed any night. No fun drinking at lunchtime. Pissed too quickly and still have the rest of the day ahead!

It's early doors yet, but if 10 people here can agree to support the venue (only 6 have commented so far, including ATB's implied approval in post #19) then it would look like a goer. Some will change their minds or not agree on dates, but give it a go!
BTW: I mentioned Fridays to Danny, but he'd much prefer a Saturday - in which case, should it be a Saturday after a Nookie delivery the previous day, or should it be a Saturday between his deliveries? That may narrow down any poll options!

If Nookie could be persuaded to make his normal Frday delivery on a Saturday -a bit later than usual, he may be persuaded to attend and stay overnight, and still be able to get back home on Sunday for his normal drinking session with friends. Just a thought

So you are suggesting that @nookiebear delivers Saturday night? Most folks will then have to scurry on home in order to stash and maintain the temperature of their goodies. Or possibly leave them with Danny overnight? Given that he has freezer room.
