When I set up home here 15 years ago, I bought a cheap "Sanyo" gas oven with 3 top burners. It's been faithfull ever since although I only use the oven as I now have a gas hob. A few weeks ago I found that the temperature was getting nowhere near the heat that it had been (2 1/2 hours to almost cook 4 jackets potatoes?). I looked at buying new but then I thought "why would it possibly not be able to achieve the maximum temperature" (apparently 220 degC). There is nothing that could cause this except possible a faulty door seal, which they don't have anyway. I removed the burners and found that they were semi clogged with some kind of white residue. I banged them about a bit and all the residue came out and on re-installing the burners and firing up the oven again, the temperature was back to 220 degC.
