No mate we use insulation fiber on top o the Gypsum boards (bats) there called down under .
The silver foil some still use under the roof tiles do nothing , well it does it turns the roof space into a sweat box , stopping 80 % of air flow .
Rolls of insulation fiber are being used more an more now and can be added to any house old or new .

Thank you for the explanation re the non-use of aluminum foil. My house does not have the foil although I have added the insulation fiber on the top of the ceiling as you describe.

My mate built a house in Chayapum his house leaks from the roof peaks like hell. I have passed this info on to him. Thanks Alan.

Yes roof tiles need to be fitted correctly.
I don't do roof repairs as a rule ,I don't need other people's headaches .
