Hi Ray,
Unlike in the UK where we use a Trench footing. Starting with concrete common bricks underground coming up to DPC, then the red brick would start. In Thailand we use independent footing pads coming out of the soil then a 50cm concrete ring beam. Then a 10cm concrete floor on top of that we start the block work. A Damp proof membrane comes naturally in the ringbeam.
Rising damp cannot rise up through all of this, That is why in Thailand you very rarely see rising damp. Only in cases where the main ringbeam is in the ground.
Our main ringbeam is normally above ground, approx 50cm.The footing pads are normally about 1 meter deep below all of this.
So that gives a total of 210cm to floor hight for the damp to rise.
Thanks Ray for you input,
Thanks3
