Just enroled our youngest in her new school.

FERRET

WELL WORN MEMBER
We just finished enroling Jenay in her new international school.
The EP private school she was attending here has, over the last year, gone to sh*t due to the teachers quality
and the amount of Russian rats being admitted.
Her new school is a little more expensive but, the same distance from home and the Majority of the teachers
are farang, not english mimicing Indians and Philipinos, we can only try.

What school would that be?

If I may ask, what school and how much? Trying to budget for my Niece’s future education, PM if you prefer. Thank you

Ah…ok…so…if I can ask, what are the fees/costs? What would a public/government school cost? Either in Surin or in Pattaya…I’m just trying to get an idea as my niece is starting formal schooling…
Our daughter is attending an international school and is in M3. With fees, books, insurance and uniforms, ฿200,000 is a ball park figure.
The big catch is they tend to employ Filipino and Indian teachers. Not the sharpest tools in the shed.
The schools that are able to attract and retain English, Australian, American and European teachers are ฿750,000 upwards pa.
We moved to Pattaya from Sangkha specifically for our daughters education as private schools in Surin are dominated
by less desireable nationalities and their ciriculums are tailerored to suit them.
Both our daughters are Austrailan born and raised and, by our choice, deserving of a better class of education.
Call me a racist if you like however, it is what it is.
As far as Thai government schooling, up to you.

How would one of the private schools in Surin with the “less desirable” teachers compare to the standard Thai public/government school? Is it worth the 200,000THB if we cannot do the 750,000THB option, or relocate? Our other thought is just go the Public school route then pay for extra tutoring where necessary.

Mate, it is a rock and a hard place decision and, I hope your choice works out whichever direction you choose. :)

It is a shame Nomad Steve is no longer with us. He could give a master class on this subject. What I remember him saying is that Surin has a staggering complicated hierarchy in getting kids into a school. Factors such as previous school rank, Who you know at the school. So on and so on. @FERRET you seemed to of forgot why you landed up moving to Pattaya in the first place. It was the onerous hierarchy at the first step.
