Money in the Bank - Extension of Stay

Marriage extension is only 60 days ever year. Still the funds have to be seasoned by expiration of his existing extension.

Two fine reasons for extenstion of visa based on marriage vs retirement:
1) 60 days vs 90 day "seasoning"
2) 400,000 vs 800,000
3) or a lower monthly income basis
:)

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition......

I would take some convincing that those reasons were justification for marriage.

Not forgetting also that the British government 2 years ago took away the benefits previously paid to widows and dependent children after death

If the relationship with ones partner is good , then marriage is basically just a piece of paper, and something to keep families happy, especially when an obscene dowry is involved!

Whatever it is, does the 3 month (90 days) or 2 month (60 days) period commence 3 months (90 days) or 2 months (60 days) prior to the expiry of the previous extension (or visa) or the date of application for the next (or first) extension?

For information, the guy in question was basing his extension upon marriage.

I rented a house in Holywell (North f**king Wales) once and the rent was payable monthly. After seven months and when we were leaving the landlord asked me for an additional month's rent as he said it was payable every 4 weeks. (Before anyone asks why I didn't just bugger off we had a fortune's worth of heating oil in the tank - it was 1974).
I believe that the proper date for extensions is based on the expiry date of the previous extension. I also believe that the value of heating oil in 1974 was very high...the first of the "gas crisis'".

Not forgetting that they have taken away the additional pension...... Probably the only/main reason you got married.

NO. That came somewhat later. We married for financial security, benefits for the children and my wife when I die + occupational widows pension, which at the time was not available to partners. We were perfectly happy without the need to register a marriage at that time, just as we are now, some 20 years later with the added piece of paper!:)

A coincidence that you should say that. I read this earlier on ThaiVisa:

"I just today did my 1-year extension, and I questioned a small slip of paper they stapled to my passport detailing what bank documents I needed to bring in at my next 90-day check.

When I told them I did my 90-day reports on-line (and that the next one was due in about 6 weeks) they simply answered that I don't need to bother to bring in the relevant docs, and that they would simply check at next years extension."

Anybody got an update on the "seasoning before and after" visa extension at Surin Immigration? - I am due to go next month and I do my 90 days online, don't really want to go back again 90 days later.

This guy in the video (start watching at 1:50) was asked to prove he had 800,000 in his account 60 days before and 90 days after (SI Racha Imm)

I applied for and received a one year extension of stay in late May this year. There was no mention of returning to prove that the amount I had in the bank had not reduced to under the ฿800,000.00 during the subsequent 3 months.

However, that was my 19th application and approval and during those 20 years, my bank balance has never fallen below ฿800,000.00 which they are able to verify by viewing the bank passbooks.

Just a point about Kasikorn Bank. My passbook is only updated once or twice a year at which times they accumulate the deposits and withdrawals. Their method is to enter the deposits first then the withdrawals. If they did it the other way around my balance would have dropped below the ฿800,000.00 threshold. I can only guess that the other high street banks do the same.

I was leaving Holywell to take up a position of the construction of a section of the first of the twin Frigg natural gas pipelines between Bathgate ad Moffat.

Guys, wonder if you can clarify something said by a mate the other day (over a beer or 3) about marriage visa's/extensions.

He said, that if a western lady gets married to a Thai male citizen, she will NOT need to have the usual 400,000b in the bank or appropriate monthly income, as a man would have to have.

Is that true or just 'bar-stool banter' ???????

From what I recall it is NO.

It would be so unusual for that to happen...why even think about it!
Unless half Thai, like my sons, married whities but wouldn't live in Thailand.

I read a few immigration websites and one specifically said if you have a Thai wife you need the 400k or 40k monthly income. It made no reference about a (foreign) wife marrying a Thai man and needing the same financial requirements.
