Does anyone have a solar set up? Just wondering how it all works? In the USA you have a few options, most just sell the produced energy for credit off their bill. In this case, if there is a black out, the lose power. Others use their power and rely on supplied power to fill any gaps. Others use their own energy and have batteries to fill the gaps st night, regular power can be used by “flipping a switch.” Any know the options and how well they all work?

I am looking at a Hybrid system, Use my solar to run my house and sell excess to power company, with battery back up for when power fails I still have juice.

Pretty much what we want as well. Think a ballpark figure was around $10-12,000 USD…320-380K Bht. Or so? Depending on a few factors ;like building a shed for the batteries, extra panels to track the sun etc…

for good equipment inverter, panels, battery its a little higher. I got numbers from 5 different companies and researched the brands they were using.

I’m sure the price went up from when we got the estimate last year…I like the idea of having AC and refrigeration when the brown out/black out happens…

I have had solar for 10 years in Surin. I am off-grid (no meter) and use solar and batteries to power the house and my 2 EVs. I also use the EVs to send power back into the house.

There was a feed in credit for those who installed the correct equipment by an approved installer. It was then cancelled but there is now talk about reintroducing it. PEA had set a maximum system size of only 5kW if you had single phase.

Lots of videos on my channel here is one to give you an idea

Nice to hear from you @Bandersnatch .

I have a system being installed soon, 10KW with battery back up It will be a hybrid system and the installer will do all the work getting it connected with power company. Nice to talk with Bandersnatch to get insight in to the new world in solar for me here. I had solar on all my homes in the US and in Nevada was very happy with my $40 monthly bill, but solar was expensive In Florida not so much, power company limited you system size so they still got money from you
