Farmers in most villages in Muang, Sikhoraphum and Chom Phra districts on Tuesday began drying their harvested grain on roads, in yards and on school sport fields to reduce the moisture content before selling their crop to rice mills. . As rice theft occurs every year, local residents are taking turns guarding their drying grain night and day. Their fields have produced very welcome high yields this year as there were no disastrous floods as in recent years. Most farmers grow the Hom Mali Kor Khor-15 rice variety.

Rice is still about two weeks off from harvesting in my neighborhood and the scammers have not posted any price. best guess is still 8 to 12 baht. BTW the 15,000 baht was pick uped two weeks back and the wife and m/l have said fork the 300 baht a day labour and will go again with the harvester.

Did you read the actual article. Harvesters from outside the district will have to pay a fee to the local Tambon. For development. (of who's pocket though?) last year I paid 550 B/Rai for the big combine harvester. Rot Keiow Khao. If the fee is put up this year it is going to eat further into my harvest dividend.

Yes I caught that. Last year it was 600 per rai hear in KC for the Kubotas and they are all local.
