Thai immigration clarifies situation for tourists and long term visa holders during amnesty period

I did the 28 May, 2020 "Extension Application" and was "under consideration" until 27 June. I received my "Extension of Stay" on 26 June 2020, now good until 28 May, 2021. My "Notify Address" form done by SI and put in my passport says to notify on 23 September 2020.
I think that's what I need to do, and as I said I do my address reports online, but I think it will be a good idea to call SI before 31 August just to make sure.
Thanks for your help in clarifying.

You are definitely in the clear until 23 September Mario.

I suspect that the system would not allow you to report online before 8th September.

I think it is truly genius that all visa extensions will become valid from 27th of September.

This stops all the arse holes in my position trying to milk the last out of the amnesty time, and encourage those that need a visa extension to do it sooner then later.
In reality I had decided NOT to milk the amnesty. It is a nice icing that you get the last of the amnesty time any way.

I will be applying for an permission to stay based on Thai spouse. My first one. I will start practicing hoop jumping now.
The thing that worries me is the financial letter and how vague it is in what needs to be in it and the time of validity and this BS about fresh balance sheets and recent withdrawals and the like and the need for a fresh print x minutes old. I am with KTB and there is no branch in Kap Chong.

I think this time I will be straight up. Tell them you insult my wife I punch you in the face. Ok lets start the process.

Please video your encounter at SI......... It could be entertaining. :grinning:

Don't worry, you will be wearing a face mask too so they will not recognise you.

As was the first time. When the OIC ran out the door and down the driveway, When none of his staff would look up from the floor to lend him a hand.
I will never forget their silent resistance of that mans foul mouth. They obviously had their fill. After he ran out, I set to apologise to all the other staff for my out burst.

I have never put this in print before. What he said to my wife was. Oh so you don't have children, why not. That's the only thing in his opinion that proves a relationship. Your probably just his paid whore. You state you own land and are a farmer. How low class is that. Then he went on to berate her more for not having children. I was biting my lip and looking at the floor as I could not look at this disgusting man any longer. Then he started on me. He said to my wife. Your husband cannot look me in the eye. THAT'S WHEN I DID. He was smiling and grinning the whole time right up until then. He thought he was going to die when he found out I understood everything he had said. You know what I also remember about that day. The way my wife just sat and listened to the abuse stoically, as that is how they have been brainwashed to behave to authority. She also did not react when I exploded. Maybe she was half expecting it.

That man has well moved on and I was told at the time he was only filling in. In defense of the SI office all my interactions since then have been pleasant. But that particular time left a lot of scars. I believe I was still in a murderous rage when I got to @gotlost house. All he could do is laugh. Best laugh he had in years.
Good on you.

I think that the majority of misunderstandings on this subject originate from nomenclature. Whilst @CO-CO may disagree with me I believe that the majority of members on this forum (at least those who post) are aware of the difference between the various visas and permissions/extensions of stay. If Immigration and the variety of "visa agents" could overcome that obstacle we may all have a better idea of what is going on.

But I doubt it.

I am sure most do.

But many, who are in your situation, will refer to having a marriage visa (or retirement visa).

I have a 1 year non-O multi-entry visa based on having a Thai spouse and issued in Savannakhet in February. Border hops were originally required every 90 days, NOT 90 day reports. (I think that Cent has the same situation.) The amnesties have kept me legal up to 26th September, but the future beyond that date seemed bleak.

In order to check for advice, I went to Surin IO on Thursday, and it was suggested that I return to them around 15th September, by which time they would have a better idea of whether or not a further amnesty would be introduced. If no such amnesty is granted (as currently seems to be the forecast) then they would process an application for retirement extension for 1 year for me.

Your 800,000 baht will be seasoned for 3 months before then?
