Choam Sa Ngam

Is it possible to get a 12 months Cambodian multiple entry visa, when residing in Thailand, and use that for the border run?
Only 1 page in your passport would be used up and save all the hassle and fees of getting single entry tourist visas.

Yes they are. Multiple entry good for 12 months to 15 months.

My bad GL, sorry, multiple entry visas can only be issued by London and for Non-O based on marriage and 'old age pensioner'. plus O-A long-stay visas.

The pensioner one is ridiculous as you only have to evidence receipt of the state pension - no other financial requirements. The only ones disadvantaged are the non-married over 50's............. although they do have the O-A option.

I think it is important to differentiate between a border run and a genuine tourist visit.
I know I'm not a tourist but they do have a visa called an 'Cambodian “ordinary” visa ' which is $35 ( for non-tourists ) , I would be happy to pay for one of those in Dollars :)

TBH now I know it's 1500 baht ( for the Visa) and 300 baht ( for the scam for not staying more than a day ) are the charges, I'm resigned to pay them and can't be arsed with arguing the toss with the Cambodian scamsters over a few hundred baht and am more than happy to be in and out as quickly as possible.
When I went on Wednesday I phoned the wife at 10:00 to say I have been across the border and was on my way home .She even commented " why you finish lill lill " ( which isn't the first time she has said this to me  ) and I told her it was a piece of cake !!
But at least I've found out that Choam Sa Ngam Border Crossing is not a cheaper option, thanks to Nongfrank

About $240-$300 depending on where you get one....hardly a cheap or easier option than paying at the border 3/4 times a year

It requires approximately 10/12 cross border trips a year to break even on costs.

The advice I always give everyone who crosses at Chong Chom is to present their passport and visa application, correctly filled in, together with photo + $35 all together. Just smile, don't speak and stand back. So far it has worked for all.

Apparently SURIN a SF form member was very happy and pleased with his Cambodian Business visa good for a year and his trips that he would take every 90 days. He too was on an O-Muilty and he would take his family to SR for a break and have some good beer. BTW he drove there.

It also worked well for another who lived part of the time in Cambodia and part of the time in Thailand.

How does the Kamen Immigration distinguish between tourists and non-tourists?

The clue is whether you turn on your heals and head back to Thailand - or proceed into Cambodia.

Additionally, your visa application form asks how long you are staying in Cambodia............................ I guess you might get away with it once ???

Kamen arai ??????

Albeit before my time, there was the opportunity to leave your passport at immigration and visit the casino, the market and even the village whorehouses for a short time with a small donation to the officers.

[So I was told].

I was told much the same Yorky some years ago. 10bt for a m/cy taxi to the market, 20bt to the whorehouse. Seems the Khmer girls were more expensive than the Viets and Chinese. (So the taxi drivers would tell you) :)

Kamen arai ??????

kamen = Cambodia and Cambodians and Khmer

I guessed that Melvin...... don't wish to be a pedant but I don't believe Kamen means Cambodia or even Cambodian people. I believe they are the Khmer people who speak the Khmer language.

The Thais refer to Cambodia as Gaam Phuu Chaa (Kampuchea) and will use Kamen to refer to Cambodians and the language (Poot Kamen mai?)....................... all probably to do with why we have "Arsenon" featuring prominently in Thai language.
