Documents for wedding in Thailand

Hello,

At the moment I am doing the paperwork for a wedding in Thailand next year.

My Thai partner in Prasat (Surin) has received the following documents : Copy of passport / Residence certificate / Birth certificate / Certificate of celibacy
and my municipality in Luxembourg has also accepted them.

Now we also need the following document which is called ‘Certificat de coutume’ in French.

The English meaning should be the following.
An affidavit of law is a certificate of custom concerning the existence, content and interpretation of foreign law

If you want to put it simply, this would be an official document with the rules and customs on how and when to get married in Thailand.
( Thai Wedding Law)

Can anyone help me with this or does anyone happen by chance to know the Thai term for it :)

thx
Steve

For the American Citizen:
  1. 1. Affirmation of Freedom to Marry:
You must obtain this document from the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Thailand.
    • This document confirms your eligibility to marry under U.S. law.

    • It typically requires an appointment and completion of an affidavit form.

    • You'll also need to provide a copy of your passport's bio page.

    • The cost for certification is usually around $50 USD per document.

I did this in Chiang Mai threw Stare Visa the then took to US Counsulat about 100 feet away. Was in out in about 15 minutes. Went the to Chaing Mai Amphur the next day. The wife had her divorce decreased and ID. We were in out in 1 hour.

First of all, thanks for your answer :)

But I think you're getting something mixed up.

The document I need is the rules and conditions under which the Thai people can and may marry.

For example, what the minimum age is, whether same-sex marriage is allowed, etc

To give @gotlost some credit. Affirmation of Freedom to Marry is what I thought you meant because you did not include it in your OP.
You will definitely need that.

Anyway don't you know what Google is ? !!!!! :)
Here is what you want then.

PS @gotlost has had a stroke and there is no need to bring attention to it, Even light-heartedly.

@Rice Certificate of celibacy is for me the same as this one : Affirmation of Freedom to Marry

I found the exact website you mentioned :) and gave the entire law to my authority in Luxembourg. However, they require it to be issued by an official authority in Thailand.

You can get what you need from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chaeng Wattana Bangkok. This is where all foreign Marriage legalization is determined.

Went there the first time i got married in Thailand. It was horrendous experience, so bloody busy. Then divorced and now re-married a month ago. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs have a number of other offices outside of BKK and much easier to use. I used the one in Ubon and i think most of the time, its void of any customers!!!
.
Step 1. Go to your BKK Embassy - Get Affirmation of Freedom to Marry (UK embassy do a lot of the checking online)
Step 2. Get above translated into Thai
Step 3. Go to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (I went to Ubon). Get Step 1 doc legalized
Step4. Go to Aumphur with 2 witnesses (I had to take local Poo Yai Baan and member of her family) - Get Married.
