GOV’T TO SCRAP ARRIVAL CARDS FOR FOREIGNERS, INTRODUCE TM30 APP

I enjoy the occasional night in Korat and with the family too.

Just like Nomad, I have spent the occasional night in Korat in recent times WITH THE FAMILY. It's nice to stroll round the Mall/ Terminal 21 (not yet been to Central), and later have a beer and something to eat, without the need to rush back. With the kids passports to renew, Korat was a possibility next month, but it seems Ubon is far easier and quicker. Wherever we go, we will stay over one night.

I have not used the TM 28 and my wife has not used the TM 30 either, not for this year nor any previous year. And we have been away from Surin for more than24 hours too.

Probably not having left Thailand this century, and with no TM6 updates, you probably do not exist:)

Will you have the TM6 framed and hung on your wall, or perhaps auction it to the highest bidder. Might be worth a small fortune.:D Alternatively, as you stated in another thread, it could be used for the same purpose that newspaper was used for.

That is simply evidence of the fact that this long-standing ‘law’ was not enforced.

AtB and Cent could, I imagine, have said exactly the same - but they were fined on their recent visits. You are likely to ‘get away with it’ if for no other reason than the proposed changes....

You will recall that ignorance of the law is no defence...... ignorance of Thai Immigration not enforcing their own rules may well be..;)

OK if the floods clear. Ubon has been an Island for the last month, without hardly any visitors getting through to it.

Having earlier made enquiries about a stay in Ubon with Booking.com, they now bombard me daily with special offers -very cheap, no doubt due to the flooding.
Cannot speak about the Highway24, but the SSK>Ubon Road (226) looks very flooded 1K before Ubon and more within Moung Ubon. I think the problem is increased because of the overflowing rivers that run through town.

All roads OK now. I did a drop-off at Ubon Airport this morning. There is still a lot of flooding but it’s not blocking any main roads.

Having registered my housekeeper/owner for online TM30 reporting, I duly reported my presence (on her behalf) this morning.

As we were scheduled to visit Buriram I thought I would pop in to Buriram Immigration to check if the system had worked, and that I was duly registered.

I was. But further than that, the very helpful IO informed me that I (the alien) could register and self report whenever I returned from any of my travels. He then kindly set me up on the system and issued a new TM30 receipt which he stapled in my passport.

Four times he mentioned that the main point of TM30 was to be able to locate aliens in times of emergency (he mentioned family calling from the home country saying that 73 year old uncle Bill had gone missing in Thailand and was last known to be in Sisaket, but they couldn't contact him).

While we were there the TV screen was showing a TM30 information video produced by Pattaya's Fabulous FM103

I’m out on the piss tonight. I’ll find him in Sisaket, if they want?

You've buckled down then? Like the rest of us?

Except @nomad97
With my new, Samsung A30 smartphone, a companion to my wife's A30 smartphone, we will enquire about the new TM30 reporting app when next we visit Surin Immigration. The next visit will be mid-November (14th), primarily for the 90-day report, and to extend my permission to remain in Thailand for a further year. While the latter is not due for renewal until the end of December (30th), the IO informed my wife that we can do so when I next submit my 90-day report, some 6 weeks before the due date. I thought that was a very generous offer from the IO.
