GOV’T TO SCRAP ARRIVAL CARDS FOR FOREIGNERS, INTRODUCE TM30 APP

While the latter is not due for renewal until the end of December (30th), the IO informed my wife that we can do so when I next submit my 90-day report, some 6 weeks before the due date. I thought that was a very generous offer from the IO.

45 days is the official period (at least it is in Surin Immigration).

I do believe its 46 days between 14th November till 30th December. Maybe I should report a couple of days late to be on the safe side.

I was told 40 days by Buriram Immigration but the Thai Immigration website states 45 days.

New app for expats in Thailand to be called ‘OSS Foreigner’

New app for expats in Thailand to be called ‘OSS Foreigner’ – Immigration reporting to be quick and easy

Kobsak Pootrakool said on Wednesday that foreigners can use the app for all immigration reporting. Simply keying in data and uploading a selfie will be the same as visiting the local immigration office and filing forms and paperwork there.

The government point man for resolving the TM30 controversy promised this Wednesday that the new app for immigration reporting for foreigners will soon be online and that it will make expats and foreigners coming to live and work in Thailand feel more welcome.

The app is being developed as part of a wider programme by the Thai government being championed by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak to make Thai public services more efficient with a focus on delivering a better experience to the Thai public.

The Deputy Secretary-General at the Office of the Prime Minister Kobsak Pootrakool has revealed this week that the new app for immigration reporting is nearing completion. It will be called ‘OSS Foreigner’ and will work on mobile applications.

Can be used for 90-day reporting
The new app will allow expats to also fulfil the 90-day reporting requirement by simply loading it, inputting information and taking a selfie which will be uploaded to the site as well as the required data fields. This will be treated and confirmed by immigration bureau officers the same as a visit to the local office.

The app will work just as well for other reporting requirements and will be simple as well as easy to use.

555! None of their apps have worked for me, not yet least way. I welcome the opportunity to test drive the new app.
Same here. I spent the best part of a day last week trying to fill in the on line application for a 60 day tourist visa for our upcoming visit in Jan.
I wont go into all the details, but let's just say it was one of the most frustrating things I have ever tried to do. In the end I decided to trow in the towel, and will get an extension on the 30 days on arrival. Another friend had the same problem, and also gave up with the bloody thing, and is having to make a trip to the nearest Consulate to get his. This fiasco is in complete contrast with my experience in obtaining my E visitor visa for Australia, that was approved in two days, took 5 mins to complete, gives multiple entry's in a year, and was free!!!

How did you manage to sort through all the dud sites that want to charge 20 AUD for parsing the data to the real site?

I (well, Halliburton) obtained an E visitor visa for Australia around 2001. It was good for multi entry over the life span of the passport (which was then just less than 10 years. I entered Australia again in 2008 with the same visa.

Why don’t Thai Immigration just ‘go the whole hog’ and ‘chip’ us like dogs?

I am to long in the tooth to fall for those guys, and a search through all the so called "official sites"
Will find the correct one. Or I go to the UK gov travel advice site, and they usually provide a link to the consular section of the embassy of the country you wish to visit.
