TM30 a shot in the foot. Even for hospital.

That usually works, but there are some hotels who insist on registering EVERY guest, including the kids

Some hotels display a sign that reads "No unregistered guests allowed to stay overnight" :)o_O;);)
I do believe my name has been registered but not my passport number. Although if I am honest, I have no idea what my wifes down or tells the receptionist.

"Since arriving in Thailand in April, she has racked up immigration fines totalling 12,400 baht (£330). A large part of that is because her apartment manager failed to promptly file a form saying where she was staying."

That is either total bollocks or she's short of quite a few brain cells!

"Thailand's Immigration Act contains a clause requiring all foreigners to let the authorities know where they're staying at all times."

More bollocks!

Myself, my Thai wife and English daughter were in Chiang Mai during the flower show a few years ago. A short time hotel alongside the river (c/w car port curtains) wanted Bht 3,000.00 per night per room. We found somewhere else.

Agree. There is no mention of why she is here.
If she’s a teacher, she should have a WP and the book will also state her address.
If she’s a tourist, she should have some sort of trip itinerary and plans to leave.
As Y says, this is a flimsy story!

And how much are the "smaller part" of the fines and what were they for?

Good case of not letting facts or the truth get in the way of a good story. All this BS story will do, is hurt Thailand even more, then it is hurting already. But then again the government denies there is anything wrong at all. So what damage?

Rice, just to avoid any misunderstanding from language differences..... by BS story do you mean that you think it didn't happen.... That is what we English would understand by BS story..
