90 Day Reporting changes - now 15 days before up to reporting date

I agree that the travel is not 'essential' and I accept the criticism - but you overlook the fact that the one major difference is that I don't come into contact with anyone with door to door travel in my car.

You are not required by law to do a 90 day report before 31st July
And neither will I come into contact with anyone going door to door by car. Moreover, I will remain in Surin Province and cross no provincial borders. I will hand my passport to the IO at the door and he/she will process the report and hand it back to me. That's far less exposure than buying booze in a supermarket, an essential risk some may say. As to the law, it does not specifically prohibit 90-day reporting. This is evidenced by the fact that several members on this forum have already processed 90-day reports this month at Surin Immigration.

I stay at home and let me boss do the report.:D

As is evident by not bothering to update my new passport for 6 months, and irrespective of the coronavirus restrictions, I do not visit SI at Kab Cheong unless absolutely necessary.

I tried to do my latest 90 day report on-line and the system' kept telling me that my flight number was wrong, when it was identical with what was printed on my TM slip. Then went in person. Hope I can get my paperwork processed by (or before) 31st May upon visa/WP expiry.

I would certainly agree that buying booze comes under the heading of 'essentials'....

I did drive door-to-door this morning to Surin Immigration. I arrived at 09.00 and 'the man' was standing outside the building. There were 4 or 5 foreigners already there being processed, each sat on a chair in the shade of the coolabah tree. The 'man', the IO, greeted me as I arrived and I returned the greeting. I showed him the 90-day report, he nodded and disappeared back into the building. Five minutes later he returned, handed me my passport, my 90-day report done without any fuss. At no time did the IO question why I should have a 90-day report done today. There was no mention of an amnesty either. It was just a routine business transaction. From a personal point of view, I am happy I did the report today. I am now good to go until 15th August, which I can delay until 21st August, and well clear of the beginning of August. I am/will be clear of the first week of August which could be rather busy should the amnesty end on 31st July.

That is exactly why I do not take anything for granted. If I cannot renew my visa by 31st May, I will visit to ask about this 'supposedly' one month amnesty.

I was also at Surin Immigration to do a 90 day report this morning, I must have arrived and left just before Nomad arrived.
Similarly we waited outside and the reporting was completed in minutes, the usual slip of paper stapled in my passport gives my next reporting date as 15th August.
The reason for the visit was because I have recently been doing my 90 day successfully on line, this time I could access the site, complete the first page of detail but then got a message telling me to contact my local Immigration Office.
Wood telephoned Surin Immigration and a lady told him we needed to go in person and do the 90 day report.
This morning I couldn't be bothered to pursue why I had to do a 90 day when reports said they were not required until the 31st July

The 25,002 Baht I spent 30 years ago on PR was clearly money well spent. No messing around with 90 day reporting, visiting immigration over and over, locking up 400K/800K and then worrying about whether I will get an extension or not. Some inconveniences though. At Chong Chom most IO's have never seen a PR book before and haven't a clue what to do. Phone call after phone call and they are none the wiser. Usually they stamp my passport and PR book as I instruct them.:D

Never did find out what the extra 2 baht was for. Well recall handing over the money in cash, and the lass behind the counter then picked it up and began to disappear into a back room. HEY!!! COME BACK!!!! Please count the money in my presence. Done

But Pat & Yorkie, KapCheon are doing until 31st July automatically,so maybe they ve havent given the proper expiry date as his PP expire 7/09.
Also Pat didn t say the actual date he visited SI.

My (old) passport expires 06:06:2020. My extension of stay expires on the same date as does my reporting date. When I get everything sorted next Tuesday, I'll report back.

Your old passport, Yorky, may show an expiry date of 6th June 20, but it in fact invalid and was cancelled months ago.
I firmly expect you to receive a new 1 year extension next week clearly affixed to your new passport, providing all your papers etc are in order.

The early bird, and all that!
I wonder if the instructions were a response to the matter of being unable to do the 90 day report on-line, simply meaning that as the system won't work for you, the option is for you to visit SI when the amnesty ends - and not immediately?

We're all lucky here that SI is not so far away as to make a visit there a huge chore. My O-Multi's 90 day border bounce became due in mid-April, so my wife called SI for advice (as the border was closed) and we were told - clearly - that we needed to do nothing as the amnesty applied then until the end of April. The same applies now until 31st July - unless the border re-opens in the meantime meaning that I need to bounce asap then.

It would be interesting to learn how many people on this forum have skipped doing a 90-day report because of the amnesty. From what I have observed, most, if not all, of the regular contributors to his forum has continued to do 90-day reports. Hands up please anyone who has not.

My view is that sometime in June Immigration will say........ OK, the borders are now open (let's say from 1st July) so the amnesty still applies to 31 July but reporting/bouncing must be caught up by 31 July.
