Checked with my mate this morning about his solar power arrangements.

He has installed solar panels on the roofs of his mother's and sister's houses in their village. All the power generated is sold to the electricity authority at 7 baht per unit with a monthly reading and payment to him. He estimates that it will take 7 years to get back his initial investment, after that all profit. His own newly built house just consumes electricity from the grid, as do those of his mother and sister.
 
That sounds like a damn good deal @johnb - He sells it to EGAT at Bht 7.00 per unit and buys it back at between Bht 3.00 and 4.50 per unit.
 
Similar story to robjak. I usually turn on the living room aircon around midday and that stays on until bedtime. At this time of the year that maybe switched off at varying times during that period. Temp set at 26 degrees C. The 2 bedroom air cons are turned on 15 mins before bedtime,say 20.30 for the girls and 23.00 for my wife and myself. Temp set to 26 degrees C. These are turned off around 01.00 or whenever I wake up to visit the bathroom. The master bedroom air con can and usually is turned on for an afternoon siesta of maybe an hour or so each day. Filters cleaned most months and full service twice a year by the air con man. Thats it.

Surely Nomad, as the expert technological member, you would have found a way to automatically switch the air con off at 01.00 I am sure my remote (basic cheap Samsung aircon) has a timer setting.
 
4446.87Baht. Gate lights, carport light, 2 pond lights and a pump, aquarium pump, plus 3 a/c, all left on overnight along with the usual fridges and freezer etc etc

That’s what he tells me! He still has to wait a few years before he starts to make anything and who know what might’ve happened to prices by the?

My external lights are turned on at dusk (3 x 24 w, 1 x 30 w) and turned off around 23:00. Fridge/freezer obviously left on 24 hours. Television in the bedroom normally is left on from 22:00 until 06:00 for no explicable reason.
 
Telly left on all night? didn’t you hear the test card noise?

I remember in UK many years ago falling asleep on the sofa and waking up to "You haven't turned off your television".

How did they know?
