Extending 'permission to stay' at Kap Cheong

Interesting, Rice. I'm doing my annual extension next week, accompanied by my boyfriend of 16 years' standing. No civil union or marriage, as we can't do it in Thailand, and we see no reason to spend money on a trip abroad for a piece of paper which would be worthless here.

We had no problem or aspersions IB. Wood was asked at the home visit 'if he looked after me"

Arturo said, "Be aware that my new 90 day would commence on the day I received my annual extension, although my annual extension anniversary would remain the same as my original entry into Thailand."

Just for everyone's information and with regards to Arturo's comment above. I lodged my application to extend on 15th December, some 2 weeks before my expiry date of 30 December. I had a home visit a couple of days later - no problems - and, following a phone call to Immigration, returned to KCI on 6th January 2016. Application approved and good until 30 December 2016. The 90 date report is due again on 13th March - no way is this related to the date of the annual extension. However, it is related to the date I lodged my application to extend, 15th December 2015. This is definitely different than the info given to Arturo.

Been there, done that! A few years' ago, I lodged my extension request about two weeks early. I then figured that my next visit would be 90 days from the commencement of the extension, rather than 90 days from the date of lodgement. WRONG! 2,000 baht. Mistake No.2: Asked for a receipt so spent another 30 minutes getting it plastered in my passport that I came 10 days late.

Thank you for posting that, Rice. I could not click "like" because what you have written, if true, and I trust your judgment, makes me seethe with anger.
As you say, it is all about relative status here in the Land of Smiles.
A couple of tranquilisers and I'll be fine!

I have posted this three times and deleted it each time. I just can't keep it to myself any longer.
I will remove the post after a short time though. If folks are curious PM.

Inre: to my comment on 90 day reporting, I am only relaying here what the IO told me. For what its worth I will make sure the 90 day reporting form is firmly affixed to my passport and go by that date. I think what actually occured was that when I reported my last 90 day it was about 32 days prior to my annual extension request and so at that time the IO adjusted my 90 day to occur concurrently with my annual. For what thats worth.

Going back to Arturo s post (Sunday,a couple of weeks ago),as a matter of interest I went(with my wife)on 21st/Jan to do my Annual Extension(Retirement),
whole thing took about 1 hour,we had everything they wanted.Passport stamped with Extension permit valid until 27/Jan/2017 & gave a 90 day check-in
date 19th April. Since our visit there hasn t been any further contact.

Perhaps they are being a little selective this year to reduce workload. Maybe only picking on the Farangs that look dodgy. Makes sense so I'm probably wrong.

No home visit for English Alan from KCI.
Indeed very interesting.
Thank you for posting

It is indeed a very significant post by EnglishAlan that the yearly extension of the permission to remain (based on retirement) was issued as of old without a '30 day under consideration stamp'. Of equal significance it is good to see that the need for home visits has also been done away with. Now if the next few guys extending their permission to remain (based on retirement) can confirm similar then we are back on track to doing what we used to do before. Thank you EnglishAlan for posting.

We need more than 1 or 2 slip ups by KCI to say that home visits or 30 day under reviews are over with. Sorry old esteemed one but your wording is very misleading. It would be nice if they woyld return to the days of old.:D

A very significant post and a first one. I think a small grain of salt may need to be applied.

Saw Alan yesterday. It is correct - exactly the same as last year with the exception that he left them a map of his house. Alan has only been on retirement extension for 3 years.

I heard about another such occurrence toward the end of last year although that was not involving a retirement extension.

So what was the other one ?

I say that because when I was in Surin over the holidays I had to do my 90 day check-in. I have been doing it here in CM for the past 8 years and this was the first time I did it in Surin. I can't recall what town it was at but it was a border town near Cambodia. I walked in, was greeted with a friendly smile, and asked the reason I was there. I stated I needed to do my 90 day check-in. They took me to an inside office, sat me down, and asked for my passport. I handed them my passport along with the 90 day form and all the typical copied pages of my passport which were signed. The officer handed me every single copy of those passport pages back and said, 'We don't need that'. I stated that CM always requested them. He laughed and said, 'We're not CM.' Less than five minutes later I was out of there...
