I received this today.

Correct. I am not an institution although many think I should be in one.

Still awaiting an answer to my question "Why is Thanachart Bank acceptable but not Kasikorn?". I doubt that there will be one.
Because Thanachart Bank doesn't know you, whereas Kasikorn Bank does. (Maybe she thinks, "Don't want to make it easy for you to get someone to sign who already knows you, do we? No! Lets make it as difficult as possible and get a complete stranger, a Thai too, who will go out of his way to not sign your frigging paperwork.") Perhaps you should invite Edwick Matenga to join our forum to see all the frivolity she has generated. 555! Or translated into Isle of Man speak, Ha! Ha! Ha!

The other irony is that if Yorky's dealings were with a Thai bank/Immigration you would probably be saying T. I. T. - this is Thailand you have to adapt to their ways!

Are you suggesting that the Isle of Man is a third world country?

Kasikorn always advise me that they can never respond to an enquiry by email!

Just thinking back, I did not actually email them. I used their "contact us" form on their website. They responded (automated) by email.

[But no actual response yet]

I received another letter from NatWest International today entitled "We need your confirmation about where you're a tax resident".

It is apparent (at the moment) that I do not require God to verify any documentation.

[It was sent to the same address (albeit spelt incorrectly in my opinion) as my first posted statement to Thailand from RBSI in 2000]

From research on the net, it appears that if I spend more than six months of the year here then I am a "tax resident" here. I pay tax on my pension in UK and I pay tax on the interest on my deposit accounts here.

When I was younger, I used to understand this shit.

There you have it Yorky...proof of address. No need for a statement -or God - .just send them back the envelope.

The "proof of address" has already been sorted. It's the verification of my passport that's still to be determined.

[As usual these days the address is not written on the envelope but on the letter in a position enabling it to be viewed through a window in the envelope. Also as is usual there is no posting date on the envelope].

No stamp either I suppose....

Nope.

Just: 1 - ROYAL MAIL POSTAGE PAID GB.

It also stated "Delivered by Royal Mail" but I'm convinced that it was my usual Thai postman who delivered it.

I am certain that Royal Mail had a hand in it.

And, although it did take 18 days to get here, it didn't appear to have been sent via Schiedam or Vienna or Lagos.

The opening paragraph of the email response from Kasikorn was: "First of all, we sincerely apologize for the delay in replying your enquiry since there were many customers' emails on queue. We are aware of this issue and trying to improve our service. However, if you have already received reply email before this one, we are really sorry for the matter."

There appears to be a little sense evident on the horizon.

There was not an email nor any other electronic contact information within the documents from Wymondam Office (from where the tax residency letter was sent) so I emailed the Isle of Man with my query ( as I've never paid tax, nor been required to pay tax in Thailand how can I be considered "Tax Resident"?). They have emailed back to say that they have forwarded the query to the relevant office.

There appears to be a little sense evident on the horizon.

And I was completely and utterly incorrect!

Response: "Unfortunately the Tax Operations department does not have an email channel. All queries relating to Tax Operations are dealt with over the phone. Please can you kindly contact them on one of the below telephone numbers and they will be able to assist you with your below query."
