Marriage extension under consideration time frame.

As I said District 4 Immigration in Kaon Kaen is swamped with all the retards going over to the ball and change.;;bad simle;;;;bad simle;;;;bad simle;;

On paper, that should make it quicker and easier for us retards. However, it is unlikely because there will be so many more applicants at Immigration filling in the plethora of forms necessary for the extension based upon marriage in order to achieve this end.

Surin Immigration is apparently quite busy, as I went yesterday to Kap Cheong as I was supposed to, for the completion of my extension of stay/marriage. The lovely wife and I had been in to do all the paperwork etc two months ago, and my Passport was stamped with a return date for completion to be 27 June, 2019.

When we arrived there yesterday morning we were told that my papers had not been completed in Khon Kaen and sent into Kap Cheong yet, so we must call them on Monday, 1, July to see if it has arrived, then make another trip there.

I will update after Monday...

Seems the new funding requirements for an extension based on retirement has contributed to the delay. Looks like more people have switched from retirement to marriage because of the easier funding requirements. Before the new rules came into effect, the marriage extension was usually completed within 30 days, now 60 days plus is becoming the norm. Keep us posted @mario299.

I don't think that they are new. It's the method of proving the funding that has been revised.

Is there something other than a Letter (preferably signed same day) from the Bank showing money sitting 90 days in the account of an applicant's name.

Or are you referring to other remedies to make said extensions based on retirement ?

It's to do with the letter from the Embassy "verifying" the monthly income (generally pension). Many Embassies are refusing to commit themselves to "verification" therefore have stopped issuing the letters. It's been the subject of at least one other thread herein.

For information, the letter from the bank does not confirm "money sitting in the account for 90 days", it only confirms the amount in the account at time of issue. Originals plus copies of the passbook(s) are required to confirm how long and how much.

Retirement extensions: The alternative to 'seasoned' money in the bank would be monthly remittances (every month) to Thailand in excess of 65,000 baht. To support/confirm that you have complied with this requirement, you would need a 12-month bank statement from your Thai bank, obtained a week or so before renewal, to clearly show these monthly remittances.

Having heard of a friend’s problem with this method, I’d just like to add that a monthly average of the required amount is NOT good enough. It must be met every and all months.

Or a brown envelop will sort it out.:rolleyes:

Thais get by on 15 k why do we farang need to spend so much?

I am not saying that research has indicated the level of Farang's spending as the majority of Thais are probably incapable of conducting meaningful research. However, in my experience I am unaware of any Farangs who can survive on 15k p.m.

And many Thais get by on much less that 15k.

I’ve always thought the minimum farang income requirement to be purely arbitrary. Maybe their research was conducted in Pattaya?

I believe that the current OAP is in the region of ฿ 25,000.00 for every 4 weeks (not that I get that, of course).

About 10 years ago I had a friend in Surin who was totally dependent on his UK OAP, although he did have some capital in reserve. At the time I think he was getting around 29,000 baht a month (with the exchange rate of the day). He was also doing the monthly border hop at Chong Chom for a 30 day tourist visa. He was bemoaning his difficulties in finding a permanent girlfriend on such a low income. Then Thailand stopped the back to back border runs which rather put the kibosh to his life in Thailand. He left and set up in the Philippines which, he later told me, was eminently easier about visa requirements. He enjoyed the remainder of his life, with his Philippina partner, until his death a couple of years ago. R.I.P. J.

I’ve also heard the PI is easier regarding residency. I don’t know why Thailand make it difficult

When I worked in the Philippines it was in Manila and Batangas which are quite expensive areas. I'm sure that outwith those areas living could be far cheaper.

Too late for me now!

I must admit with the house rent, car loan, internet, beer, school fees, som tam and the like it’s difficult to spend less than 65k. I do know that my money goes a lot further here than it would in Blighty
