Choam Sa Ngam International Point of Entry.

THAIS from Surin Province don't require passports ....Wheely ? :rolleyes:

What do they show, house books ?

Is that just no passport for the immediate area, or can they go to Siem Reap or beyond for 3/4/5 days without a passport if they live in Surin province, and enter and exit via Chong Chom or Choam sa Ngam, but have to produce a passport if they live in Buriram area ? I somehow doubt that in reality.

Or is it just no passport if they stay overnight at the casino and hail from Surin province?

They can only travel into Oddar Meanchey Provience and no further. This was signed off by the Governors of Surin and Oddar Meanchey Providences sometime back and has been keep in place by national authority. There is still avery close BLOOD relation between these two providence. The relation between these two providence is a major reason Surin has a border crossing, private vehicle of both countries can cross, major commercial vehicle movement, a highway 214 that is being widen into 4 lane dual carriageway all the way to Lao:D:D All Buriram has is a football club and no crossing.:rolleyes::D AKA short time visit as I was informed not more than 3 nights.;)

Remember this...:D:D:D:D

I very good friend of SWMBO was just by for morning coffee and spotted the case of Angkor beer and asked her how we got it through Chong Chom as she had just been at the crossing yesterday and she saw a farang and his wife get busted by Customs bringing in a case from O'Smach.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: SWMBO told her where we went "Choam Sa Ngam" and that SSKI delivered to us.;;big smile;;;;big smile;;

I was wondering about that GL. At Mukdahan I was told a 6 pack was allowed. It is only just now, I realised I had my wife's allowance, could of got two 6 packs. DOH!

Legally only 1 liter per passport and it makes no difference what kind of alcohol it is.:eek: Cans of beer are 330ml so that is 3 cans and that is it:eek:. I highly suggest you do not go over this and fags are only 1 carton or 200 nails:eek:. Crossing such as Mukdaha and Chong Chome are death traps for the noob farang:rolleyes::rolleyes::D:D. Members of this form have been busted and fined some serious dosh for bragging rights:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::D. I knew this at Choam Sa Nagam BUUUUUT this crossing is far out in the sticks with little use SOOOOO when SSKI volunteered to assist in the delivery...;;bad simle;;;;bad simle;;;;bad simle;;;;victory;;

How much do you save on a 6 pack?

I shall try to answer that. IMHO there is jack shit to be saved from buying beer in Lao as Beer Lao is sold legally in Thailand Now as for Angkor Beer from Cambodia which is NOT sold in Thailand SWMBO paid 400 baht and gave SSKI a 100 baht tip. A flat or 24 cans cost 20.81 baht per can. When we go back to CSN crossing in April we shall try again.

As the title says that is what its called on both side. Was not planning on doing my border hop today BUT SWMBO had other ides sooooooo. As it turned out it was veeeeeery informative and worth while. 70 km from our home in KC. The biggest cluster fork was going through the Chong Chome Market area on the 214.:eek: There is a SECURED parking area just to the right of the crossing. Ask the the army personal and they will open the gate and let you in cost is 50 baht. ALL enter and exit points for Thailand and Cambodia are within 60 meters of each other.:eek: I was dropped off at the parking lot entrance with the Thai departure point directly across the street about 30 meters, there were 5 of us. I am not fast but I do get there as I walk with a cain. There is no traffic at this crossing to speak of. As we enter the side walk heading toward the departure I was gob smacked...:D:D:D out comes Thai Immigration with a wheelchair an assistant and a PHOTOGRAPHER. They must have taken 20 or so photos of them assisting me so if you see a short, old chubby farang man with a cain in a wheelchair being assisted by immigration in the media, guess who.:rolleyes: They told the wife to keep it and go to the casino if we wanted.:D At this point it was across the street to the Khmer side without the wheelchair. Everything at this crossing and I do mean EVERYTHING is on the same level with NO potholes and is brand new. The Cambodia Visa window is directly in back of the departure window. As I have heard and been told the visa was only 1200 baht, back around to the departure window forum filled out and passport stamped for exit, NO EXTRA SCAM MONEY. Total cost for me was 1200 baht a far cry from 1800 baht at Choeng Chom. AND the wife and the girls only paid 10 baht not the 50 like at CC. SWMBO escorted me back to the Thai Immigration arrival entry point about 60 meters. Got to talking to the Thai IO's and that 600 baht that was saved.. a Thai IO got me a case of Angkor beer for 400 baht and delivered to our truck on his motor cycle.

Talking with This Immigratio aka Si Sa Khet, they told me that sometime next year they expect a highway bypass to go in for killer hill and the crossing to be opened for cars. I could see some major construction on the road so something is up. There is a grate coffee shop with a fantastic view at the top of the pass.

Enclosing :rolleyes: IMO..My next border hops will be done at CSN. The Thai and Khmer Immigration are professionals and are not ripping you off. As far as I'm concerned the only thing that Chong Chome has going for it is the ease of driving a car into Cambodia and public transpiration from Surin to the crossing and transportation from there to SR. As for Chong Chome you can add it to CHUMPS list of SHITHOLES.:rolleyes::D
Thanks for you info great stuff .
No hassle with the beer to that's a plus .

Good info, thanks. It’s a shame Sisaket residents don’t get the same ‘privileges ’ as those from Surin.

The problem you have is SSK is on top of PV.;) Do I need to say more.:rolleyes: Imho what saw I would give better than even odds that someday in the near future CSN will go full. Saying that I hate to see it because it would mean more people going across which would mean a CUSTOMS CHECK POINT like is at CC for the noob farang and no more delivery by SSKI of Angkor BEER. At this moment its a great border hop crossing.

BREAKING NEWS..Choam Sa Ngam International Point of Entry is NOT in Si Sa Ket provence. Its IN SURIN Provence. Go to Google Earth and bring it up. You will see the COUNTY LINES as I call them. The provincial line is back up where the old market was and is now a silver streak parking lot. Yes the government complex, custom yard and old SSKI office are in SSK province.

SCORE on local crossing into Cambodia.

I was under the impression (I don’t know) that it is a sub-branch of Ubon Immigration. I also know one of the SSK IO’s went there for a while for training. That is why I thought they were ‘linked’ more to SSK.

Next time somebody makes a trip to CSN they/we need to ask. The crossing is in Surin Provence.;)
