Choam Sa Ngam International Point of Entry.

We have a POTENTIAL NEW BORDER CROSSING in the running.. Aan Mah Border Crossing at GPS 14.3880518787, 104.965614051 (Aan Mah Border) on highway . About 74 km south of
Mueang Det in Ubon Ratchathani province. Google Earth imagery of this crossing and area is only 31 days old. Thai highway 2171 is new going through the pass. The highway on the Cambodian side is all but finished. The casino is ready to open. You can see 22 wheeler trucks and cars on the road. There is a section at the border to be finished. By my best guess it looks to me as if they are letting a few 22 wheelers across like I saw at CSN and I would venture to say they are letting push bikes and foot traffic across, very good chance of motorbikes also. This crossing is to facilitate commerce from Vietnam and Lao. Yes the Chines are pouring money into this. This crossing is on the east side of Preah Vihear and only about 194 km from Kap Choeng. For those that lke to explore when you need to do a hop this crossing is looking very interesting. When I lived in Chiang Mai the closes border crossing for hopping was and still is Mae Sai 250 km each way, so 194km is a cake walk. Check out this blog its less than a year old. https://www.polarsteps.com/tinymous...-indochina-thailand/1125891-nam-yuen-district He has great photos and proof of his crossing. Any more info on this crossing would be greatly appreciated. CSN you need to get the lead out of your ass..:D

You get a GOLD STAR.

I once had a good night out in Det Udom. There is a small local ‘Tawan Deang’ style club there and a few interesting restaurants. I think it was the first time that I tried ostrich & Croc steaks there!!!
We stayed in a nice family friendly resort with big pool & kids pool.

If you turn into the dirt road at the blue sign in your Google map posting and drive a couple hundred metres , you'll find a very good restaurant on the banks of the Huai Samran lake. It's a beautiful location and you're able to eat at tables right at the lakeside. They will also take you to dine out on the lake itself on a raft for 500B , providing you give them notice in advance.

I crossed the border at the Choam Sa Ngam crossing today. It's hassle free and exactly as Got Lost described.
We enquired about taxi services to Siem Reap at a small shop near the crossing. The shop keeper told us he could arrange a taxi for 1500 baht. He said there's no need to book in advance. However, I have his phone number if anyone needs it.
I can also recommend the liver pate baguette sandwiches they serve in the outside restaurant area at the casino.

Just completed another successful border hop at Choam Sa Ngam Crossing. IMHO Chomg Chom Crossing can kiss my arse for doing an in and out. 1200 baht vs 1800 baht. Today only had one couple (tourist) being processed. Was at the crossing about 30 minutes and saw no others. Wife kicked me out at Thai exit and before I could say thinks Thai Immigration had me in a wheelchair taking photos. There was no charge for for her and her aunt to cross over. I saw one 22 wheel semi cross into Thailand and a few silver streaks crossing over to the casino aside from that the crossing was a grave yard. The tourist couple had taxi pick them up at the crossing for SR, cost was 1400 baht. FYI this crossing from the Surin bus station is 101 km and from the Surin bus station to CC is 71 km. The parking lot at CSN is army and is secured parking cost is 40 baht per 24 hours. The down side is getting to CSN as there is no public transportation that I know of. There is a refreshment shop inside the parking area and nice toilets on the Thai exit side.

I'm sure they will be a time that I will use CC again but at this moment they can kiss my brown eye.:D Beware that at CSN they may try it on you for an extra 300 baht as they did last time to me. I politely told the KIO that I had already paid the other KIO and he said OK and waived me on. Also if you ask the TIO's at the exit they may go get u a flat of Angkor beer for 400baht, I gave em 100 baht tip.:D
