That didn't appear to work:

@Prakhonchai Nick My gf saw the meter reading guy today trying to work out which house our meter was connected to (my power line goes underground to the house)

What safety precautions were followed for the underground cable just curious? I did it my self to world best practice. The PEA were having kittens until they inspected the method.
Bye the way. What time period have you calculated for breaking even on your solar system.?

My electricity supply cable is underground. The cable is armoured and buried 300 mm deep (prior to garden landscaping) with some plastic tape about 100mm above it. I remember how much it cost in y. 2000 - ฿ 12,000.00 for 50 metres!

The sheathed cable I used had to be specially ordered as could not be purchased at the usual home improvement stores. It also runs in conduit. I discussed it with PEA before going ahead.

I am not sure why everyone uses payback when they talk about solar investments. It ignores all returns after payback has been achieved.

I am currently making a 10% return, so 10 years to payback, ignoring the fact that electric prices will continue to rise year on year.

What value can be placed on having power when the PEA is down but still having PEA as a backup?

If it was purely a financial decision, I would have only gone after the low hanging fruit: covered only 60% of my usage and not installed batteries.

.
People mention payback period, when folk boast of how cheap their power usage is. All the while not acknowledging that they have paid forward their bill, in your case 10 years.
@Bandersnatch your environmental credentials are clear, which is admirable. I understand why you don't understand why folk ask this question as you have done it not to save a quid, but save the environment. Thank you for your part.

฿ 1,515.69 for March/April 2020 including ฿ 46.16 discount.

380 units - still below the premium rate.

My 17/3- 16/4 units of electrical consumption increased 30% over the previous period and accordingly so did the billing total.

Additionally my usage is up 90% from the period ending 15/2. :fearscream:

I follow @Coffee's lead, my consumption was some 13% more than the previous month. It was to be expected with 4 people confined to the house (lockdown) and during the hottest time of the year.

100% agree with Bandersnatch’s reasoning and environmental attitude too. Additionally, payback periods are a consideration for many though - even when the electricity being consumed is a part of the equation. One minor point though: if “payback” is to be achieved in 10 years, how many of us (specifically us) can guarantee to still be around by then? ☠️ Long live the next generation, eh?

Sorry @Merlin , there is never a guarantee with anything in life.

(Don't take my word, talk with any physician following surgery.)
