electric bill

The PEA bill said that PEA think our meter is broken!

Phoned PEA about the bill they and have have no record of us having solar, despite multiple meetings with them at the main PEA office, reams of paperwork signed to get permission to use solar with PEA and them sending their solar inspection team from Korat to check our system.

They are now sending someone to out to test the meter

They are now sending someone to out to test the meter

The Meter Inspection Team came out in a van marked "Meter Inspection Team" They tested the meter and found it was working. You know how you test a meter? You draw power through it and see if it moves - they turned my meter by half a kilowatt hour - I expect to see a refund on my next bill. If they come out every month to test my meter, this could get expensive. Then ensued a conversation in my broken Thai as to what an Off-Grid-Hybrid Inverter is and how it does not turn the meter backwards. The meter reading had not changed since last month so why were they asking if I was using my solar system to turn the meter backwards? I plan to post a list of FAQs in Thai above my meter before next month.

* Is the meter broken? - No it was tested in April by the Meter Inspection Team

* Why has the meter not moved? - The house has solar

* Will the solar system turn the meter backwards? - No, the Off-Grid-Hybrid Inverter draws power from the grid to charge the batteries when there is not much sun, but does not send power back into the grid

* Do we have permission to connect PEA to a house with Solar? - Yes and the system was checked and approved by the Solar Inspection Team from PEA Korat

And people wonder nobody has rooftop solar in Thailand!

Never had my solar system inspected or tested. Within the next few months it is likely mains electric will be provided. I will seek a meter, so that we can have aircon. or hot water if required. Everything else will remain on solar as of now.

I see that Nomad, along with some others have refrained from advertising their April Bills.

Mine has just arrived...it is late, no doubt due to being heavy.

7,187 Baht even with a 222bt refund. 1652 units . Due mainly to both kids being home the whole month from Bangkok

Swings and roundabouts. I have saved on their Bangkok electric bills,. and also the air and taxi fares to return to Bangkok

Was it mitigated by claiming the return of your PEA deposit ?

I did not refrain, I told you that it had increased by 13% over the previous month. Had you taken the time and trouble to look it up, you would find the previous month of March was ฿5,133, 13% of this is ฿667, add the two together = ฿5,800. Considering my two daughters were at home for the entire period of the bill, plus the lockdown keeping all four of us confined to barracks, and the very hot seasonal weather, it was not as expensive as it could have been. I guess the next bill will be very similar.

SWMBO claimed the refund so I guess SWMBO will pocket the money too.

It will be very interesting to see how the rebates are given. We pay both the electric and water bills by direct debit from SWMBO's account. Will they refund money to SWMBO's account or reduce the next bill accordingly?

I believe that my wife is intending to apply for the return of the deposit today. We shall see.

In the last minute that has changed to "next week".

The deposit money will go to the bank account of the person who applied for the meter originally. ID card and bank account details have to be provided.plus rfeference from the recent bill

As for the subsidy recently announced as I understand it for those with 15 amp meters the next bill will be charged at the Feb 2020 price, for all units consumed up to 800, whilst from 801 upwards the rate will be 50% of ฿ 4.4217 per unit plus the usual addd-ons

Following those "rules" it is extremely unlikely that anyone will be receiving a rebate for the deposit paid for our meter. The deposit was paid in cash by my ex-wife in 2000. My ex-wife does not have access to any bills since 2001. I suppose if I could contact her we could agree a 50/50 deal.

Here is a clue..

It won't be to a Farang.

I wager that the chances of the meter being registered in your name are exactly zero.
