electric bill

100% agree with Bandersnatch’s reasoning and environmental attitude too. Additionally, payback periods are a consideration for many though - even when the electricity being consumed is a part of the equation. One minor point though: if “payback” is to be achieved in 10 years, how many of us (specifically us) can guarantee to still be around by then? ☠️ Long live the next generation, eh?

Everyone's situation is different. Personally, I will have to wait another 12 years before I receive a pension, so I have savings and investments that produce an income that I live off in retirement. With interest rates in the toilet, it makes more sense for me to reduce my future costs.

I have bought 4 "Buy-To-Let" properties in the UK over the last 18 months - not one of them produces more that a 6% return net of costs. I have bankrolled my brother's mortgage, which only earns me 3% So by comparison a 10% return on my solar investment seems pretty good. It is interesting that nobody has every asked me what my payback was on my "Buy-To-Let" property purchases, which were specifically purchased for income not capital gains.

Will I have assets left when I die? Almost certainly, because I live within my income. I also would not want to leave my family here in Thailand with nothing.

Two folks in the village are convinced that the electricity price has increased. Apparently their bill this month is more than their bill last month.

These are the current charges. The last variation was January 2019.

According to the BKK/post today,it s only the people working from home who have a 5 amp meter who are going to benefit ie using Febs fig as a base.

You either misread the news or didn't read it all. Not sure where you got the "working from home" bit from. The subsidies apply to every household.

1)Around 10 million households with meters up to five amperes and using not more than 150 units a month need not pay electricity bills during the three-month period.

2) Another 10 million households with meters more than five amperes will get deductions from the number of units in excess of what they used in February.

The government have now formally approved the subsidy. Better than the original proposal.

Free electricity is extended to households with a power meter of no more than 5 amps. Up to 10 million households are expected to benefit.

For households with a power meter over 5 amps, if their consumption does not exceed 800 units (kilowat hours), they will pay as much as they did in their February bill. The amount over 800 units will be subject to a 50% discount.

Large houses that consume more than 3,000 units will get a 30% discount.
