Extending 'permission to stay' at Kap Cheong

If only the paper listed the rules to which you agree and understand...............
It did list the rules. Half a page of Thai writing, followed by (presumably) the same in English. I didn't bother to read in detail as I knew that signing would be preferable to a free trip to the airport anyway.

It would be great to see that list translated into English and compare it with the Immigration Website's "rules". As far as I remember the list wasn't "written" on immigration headed paper.

I shall just check the sky for flying pigs.

I wasn't sure under which thread to post this but as this is the latest one regarding extensions.

A friend completed his application for, and obtained an extension to stay in the Kingdom based on retirement yesterday in Sisaket Immigration. Walked out of the office with the 12 month stamp within an hour. No "awaiting approval" stamp.

Obviously different from KCI as no 30-day waiting period or home inspection.

GL - what's up with KCI - why are they being instructed to go a different route ?

I doubt if they are being 'instructed'. If you read Tod Daniels comments in Teak Door about KCI you will realize that they are notorious for making shit up to make people's lives more miserable.

Thanks, Hum. I didn't so I'll take a look. I figured I'd read something sooner or later in the BkkPost. :rolleyes:

What slightly irritates me is the needless requirement for expats to report back in 30 days - simply just to pay the fee and receive the 1-year Visa stamp in one's passport. ;;cry;;

Then 60 days thereafter for one's 90-day report of address. That's usually three trips in the space of four months !
(MOD : Again - GL's masturbating dog smilie would work best !)

There's just so much of Chong Chom market one can tolerate. ;;shocked;;

GL - are you selling homes in KC so older expats don't have to travel so far six times a year to take care of their immigration requirements ?
I know the photocopy shoppe is making a killing across from KCI ;-)

I understand that you are required to pay the fee at the time of your application (not 30 days later). Obviously non-refundable in line with the stipulations of all other country's governments.

^-^ That's the application fee, witty one.

You pay for the type of Visa you receive when they stamp it in your passport. U'r slipping mate.

I'm quite sure you will get your extension. Why wouldn't you? I'm sure I will get mine too. The home visits are just unneccessary.

I'm sure that I will also receive mine, as I have done for the last 14 years (at the same address). I agree 100% with you on the home visits being unnecessary (unless for the first application, maybe). It's a farce. Give me the extension, then, if you wish, call round to my house at your convenience. If you find that I am not legitimate, jail me or deport me. WTF is the problem? I have signed a declaration that I accept the rules (whatever they are) and am prepared to abide by those rules or suffer the consequences if I do not.

You are not receiving a visa, Coffee.

[Edit: when you apply for a visa as a foreigner to travel to the UK, you pay up front. If you do not obtain the visa (for any reason) you're buggered as far as getting your money back: fact!]

Coffee, you pay the 1900 baht at the time of application. When you receive your visa extension for the next 11 months, after the 30 day interim extension for the home visit,you don't pay anything else.

Just did my 90 day report about 1:30 pm this afternoon took me all of 5 minutes and 3.5 minutes were spent talking to an IO friend.:rolleyes: There only two white boys waiting waiting and one Malaysian Lady being processed.. There were 3 IO's on duty and the usual office help out from.:D

Try again.

Did something change - are you sure about that ?
Then it is I who must be confused.

Last year I paid THB 1900 fee for only the application applying for a 1-year visa based on retirement.
Then I paid an additional THB 3800 for a Multiple-Entry visa stamp based on retirement.

(I understand it would have been an additional THB 1900 above the THB 1900 application fee if only receiving a Single-Entry visa stamp based on retirement.)

Jasus Coffee. Get it together!

You paid Bht 1,900.00 for your extension of stay (based upon retirement). You paid Bht 3,800.00 for a multiple re-entry permit to permit you to leave and re-enter the Kingdom as many times as you wished within the period of your extension. You could have paid Bht 1,000.00 for a single re-entry permit but if you wanted to leave and return again within your 1 year extension (without problems), you would need to pay another Bht 1,000.00, etc. etc.

[Edit: The video that I was attempting to post was "Slip Sliding Away" - Paul Simon.]
