MHaywards Building information

We do not build swimming pools.

Reputable companies that do swimming pools normally give a 12 month Warranty / Monthly Service for free.

As we build houses all over Thailand, the last thing I need is a phone call saying 'my water has gone milky / pH filter has mal-functioned' From a client hundreds of KM's away.

If I did Decide to build pools, I would only do the Pool and nothing else, I would also get a specialist in Swimming pools involved.

However, one of my foremen knows how to build swimming pools, he did so in Bangkok for several years. If a client in, or around Surin wanted one, MAYBE I would consider it.
I will build myself one in the future, by doing so will gain knowledge from doing so.

So my advice for now is Use a Reputable / Long running Company which gives a good service and guarantee. You will then get what you pay for.

Understand Pools are best built by reliable experienced Specialist Contractors, that is why I am looking for one who will come to Sangkha and build me one.
I might still have a good guy available, recommended by another member, however the price he quoted me today was so ridiculous, I smelled Sick Buffalo Shit.

Problem is when I told the TGF the price is total bullshit, she went nuts, threw her dollys out the pram, saying I was trying to be too smart by already knowing the prices, so I have made her look stupid.
Now, although I didnt say anything, she is shouting that I am accusing her family of taking money again...as if ever ??

Bottom line is, information I have is for a price of around 10-12,000 a sq m for a 1.5m deep standard pool inc pumps, filter etc. therefore 81 sq m pool plan would be around 1M Baht all in.
Current local quote is way way higher than that, like.....DOUBLE !! Think1

Thanks for the info, I will keep looking,

Getting these guys to come out of Pattaya for work is difficult, but i do not mind paying the extra costs or foregoing the Maintenance Contract etc.

Hi Mate,
I had a 10 x 5m salt water pool built in Rayong with waterfall at one end hiding the pump room. lit at night and including the tiled surround, shower and steps to climb in and out. also had those massage jets, depth at one end 1.3m and 1.9 at the other and i paid 800,000 all in. Was later told i probably could have got it done for 650,000 but i was happy with the job.

Many thanks for the info...this is from TV only a short time ago.

The guy who made my pool is great and the best price that I could find and he is 100% in love with concrete.

My pool is 7m X 4m and 1.3m deep.
I had quotes of up to 540,000b.

He did it for 280,000. including pump, filter and computer chlorinater

I need around 8m x 9m and 1 to 1.6m Deep, with a Jacuzzi 3m x 3 m on one end, so I reckon a Million complete with Pumps, Lights, Shower and Tile surround on the ground etc is good in anybodys book.

This joker today has quoted me a 7m x 6m x 1 to 1.6m Deep Pool with 3m x 3m Jacuzzi (total 51 sq m) at 850,000 just to build it, no Pumps, Lights, or any outer area work, not even the overflow drain covers??
That is already over a million when I add the extras...working out to a nice 20+ K Baht per sq m, whereas the guy above got his for half that?? OK mine is deeper and has a Jacuzzi, but thats about it.

So chaps, who is going to build my Pool ??

Cheers, MH

There are so many things that determine the cost of a pool, quality of the pump and filters , a cheap job can often mean a high maintenance.

If the pool is set up right ,and built right it can be a almost zero maintenance pool ,not many of these local boys will know about the complexity and technology of producing this modern kind of pool . Salts and reverse osmoses systemswith specialized filters and lighting . My advice is taking your time do a lot of research (educate yourself). Ask the right questions and see if you get positive answers or blanklooks of the proposed contractor .I know some people who spend 1 to 2 hours a day cleaning there pool (today there is no need for this at all)IF you set things up right in the first place . Gary at Ryans has a nice pool and he know a lot about building them too ,could be well worth a visit to have a beer and a chat with him he is a very nice helpfull guy !

More swimming Pool news chaps...

Found an experienced Pool Builder willing to come up to Surin and do our Pool for us, looking to expand business in the Isaan direction too.
Plan is to have him manage the whole show, probably with his own Foreman, but use our local builder team as they are very good and knowledgeable too.

Lets see how the planning goes...meanwhile, as part of the costings etc..
For my own info, as I like to know prices of everything in advance, well at least before Mother-in-Law tells me the cost lol, anyone any ideas on the following stuff for the Pool.

Delivered Price and availability of of 280 STC Waterproof Readymix in the Sangkha area.
Delivered Price and availability of DB12 Steel in same area.

Thanks in advance,

MH

More info required from the House Owners and Builders in Surin please.

Pool is now well underway, expensive but seems to be a vey good standard so far.

I need some advice on the following as it seems to me that the Family may well be back on the silly price quote road yet again.

We recently bought the exterior paint to do the house and walls.
I bought Dulux Weathershield Max as I am of the opinion that there is no economy in buying cheap paint, unless it is to tart something up to sell.

Area of House is approx 180 m2 and Walls 80 m2 - New Rendered Concrete.
I am getting quoted 40 Thb per m2 for all the preparation, one primer and two topcoats.
I am concerned that this may not be a fair price when considering the Day Rate for labour and how long it will take.
The only thing is the same guy did the interior for the same rate while I was away and made an excellent job.

Laying the Tiling around the outside areas of the house, driveway etc has been quoted at 80 Thb per m2, once again including all preparation etc, however it is onto newly laid concrete and fairly straight forward.
Once again, considering day rates, I do not believe this is such a good price either.

Your advice very much appreciated.

Cheers, MH
