Transfer of monies from overseas to Thailand

Well shiver me timbers! The money was in Bangkok Bank at 10.02 this morning. By far the best service I have ever come across. Fast and cost-effective. Many thanks to all of you who have made recommendations for using this service. I am sold on it too.

P.S. BigA take note.

False alarm! The money was not in my account at 10.02 this morning. I was just surprised I had any money in my account at 10.02 this morning. LOL!

Good start Nomad... Transferwise exchange rates change every minute, but once you have done a deal the rate remains unchanged until you transfer the payment -nornally allowed 24 hours for this..
I brought money in yesterday. Ordered it in the morning around 11am, got a fixed rate of 43.75 or 43.50 net. Instantaneous payment from Barclays to Transferwise (why is Lloyds not instantaneous?) Money in Kasikorn Bank 17.52. Excellent service.
I have noticed that payment to Bangkok Bank usually takes a day longer to arrive.

Why is Lloyds not instantaneous? It probably was, I did not check. What I said, the bank (computer message) advised the payement to Transferwise would be completed within 2 hours. It certainly was.

As an aside, online transfers from Bangkok Bank to Bangkok Bank are also instantaneous.

I did notice yesterday that transfer from SCB to Kasikorn was virtually instantaneous (both branches in Surin but that should make no difference).

Speaking of money transfers, I wonder if @CO-CO has any exchange rate predictions for the rest of the year. I've not moved a penny of my OAP since just before the Brexit vote.

Yes.

I think the rate will go up or down, staying broadly at the current rate of 43.565.

That takes account of a likely run on Sterling pushing it down to 42.45 before bouncing back to end up nearer to 44. That assumes that most politicians and commentators keep their mouths shut!

Well the money was in the bank at 14.03 - pretty damned good if you ask me. Delighted with the service.

Glad to hear it worked well, I've been using it regularly and have not had any problems at all. The exchange rate is always good and the speed is at least as fast as my wire transfers used to be. As mentioned though, Bangkok Bank can run a little extra time before they do the actual deposit to my account, but c'est la vie.

I find the remittances from Transferwise are always credited to my Bangkok Bank account at a few minutes past 14.00.
It must be the once a day time they run one of their systems.
I think you are right. At 08.00 this morning I transferred some money from the UK to Thailand with Transferwise. Lo and behold, six hours later and it is in my Bangkok Bank account at 14.02 this afternoon. Pretty damned good if you ask me.

I am seriously thinking of biting the bullet and bringing a few bob over. I should have brought it at 44 but I hung on. Kasikorn are currently quoting c. 42.29.

TW are quoting 42.75

At 08.00 this morning - 42.7618 THB to be exact.

That is about as useful as saying it was exactly 71 in 2006

It is NOW exactly 42.73392

(But that will change by the time the next person checks......)
