electric bill

I have explored many avenues and cannot explain the spike in my last electricity bill. Still think someone 'stole' some of our electricity and the arc welders who put up the new roof on the house next door but one were the prime suspects. In order to monitor the situation I have setup a little spreadsheet to track and forecast my next electricity bill. It's not refined but should give a ball park figure.

I would think that unlikely but I’m always up for a conspiracy theory!

Terrak said a couple of days ago we (I) hadn’t paid our 3BBlast month. I was incredulous but couldn’t find the receipt. My theory is that they don’t always send the bills so what can you do? For years I’ve always paid on delivery of a bill

I will refer to Occam's razor on @nomad97 mystery.
Occam's razor is the problem-solving principle that the simplest solution tends to be the right one. When presented with competing hypotheses to solve a problem, one should select the solution with the fewest assumptions.

So the answer to @nomad97 power consumption spike. Is that somebody knocked it off. Since all other investigations have failed to bear fruit.

I don't receive a PEA bill. I used to just go and pay at PEA. Now with the new PEA phone App I can look up the bill online and pay it. It is pretty cool as I can even do it while overseas.

Arc welding needs high power -often more than is available in a home where 5 amp meters frequently supply the power. The welding gangs therfore more often than not hook up to the main supply where it enters the meter on the pole in the road. More than likely the easiest meter to get to is used.:(:rage:

I now pay the majority of my bills through the internet all on the same day (albeit I schedule them). The bank emails the receipts to me.

Lt Cdr Data extolled he had become accustomed to the work of Arthur Conan Doyle. When all likely probabilities have been eliminated ... I forget the rest 55

I enjoy my visits to 7/11 and Big C ....

The rate of 4.31 only applies to kwh above 400 units per month. Below 400 units per month are cheaper.

@nomad97 knows that, he is just using a worst case scenario for his spread sheet. I guess he could copy your spread sheet in to make it precise.

If Nomad had any of his CCTV cameras pointing at the meter, mystery solved. My guess is just as Nick pointed out, the easiest power to get to...doesn't matter whose power.

Well, if anyone is stealing his supply it is obviously going to be that charged at the higher rate.

I think Corbyn would steal the National Grid but I don’t think anything cares anymore

Using the actual rates doesn't need to be complicated. As @nomad97 consistently uses in excess of 400 kwh per month the lower charges will be static, i.e. lump sum ฿1,496.31 per month.
